Mixes from Residents

After three years and numerous club events, festival showcases, vernissages, and DJ workshops, we want to give something back: We are proud to officially share our first compilation with you. A compilation by FLINTA* Artists - as a tribute to the years of support we have received and as a sign of the visibility and also achievements of the community. We are pleased to announce that Layers will now also be a music label for FLINTA* producers and artists.

As a kickoff, a total of 11 artists released nine tracks on our first compilation (LAY001). All proceeds generated by the compilation will be donated to GLADT Berlin.

With our LAYERS Podcast 001 we would love to introduce super gem @o_0megavybe. Born and raised in Berlin and routed in the art scene she just knows how to serve us the right rhythms with the perfect amount of fun. You don’t wanna miss out on these almost forgotten jewels Magali has dug up. Enjoy the tunes while sliding into a warm sunset.

don't worry @superglozz is bringing the sun back. The Berlin-based DJ has pretty much taken off since her first gig last year. Since then, she has been booked regularly in established clubs and well-known party series. Her sets are characterised by an energetic sound with feminine features. For us, she has recorded a mix that includes all of her summer favourites. Let's reminisce together about this wonderful life-affirming summer.

Layers is welcoming you to 2023 with a new podcast by @_crystaline. A host at Radio 80000 since 2020, Cristalyne grew up in Berlin. Being a music journalist she has a wide range of musical interests. Her djing reflects this: Depending on the setting you might hear sunset-themed balearic, trancey bass or the occasional pop edit. For this mix she dug into her dancefloor-oriented side:  Lots of breakbeat and bass, woven into a steadily pumping flow.

Acidheaven is a whirlwind on the decks and since her beginnings she hasn't stopped moving around the booths of different countries. The Canary Islander, now based in Berlin, has marked her own path and style through transversality and eclecticism. Her sets mix musical genres ranging from broken rhythms accompanied by vocals, footwork, or progressive house to acid, techno beats or trance. Pure club sound full of emotions and frenetic techno percussion. She is currently DJ resident and part of the MAREO collective & B2BBS.  

In this mix Acidheaven takes us on a sonic journey between 128 and 138 bpms full of broken beats, acid, female vocals and sexy anthems to the rhythm of house.

we warmly welcome you to our new mix made from Christa K.

Growing up in Berlin her experience with the electronic music scene started early on. Whilst the official dance floors were closed during the pandemic and a lot of people started their own small dance floors at home she noticed the strong underrepresentation of female friends sharing their music, so she started mixing in their living rooms. Her main focus is to get every single person on the floor to dance along, be happy and smile. Lovingly she selects Speedy House, Groovy Techno, Drums and Trance with a good portion of all kind of 2000-edits soundcloud can deliver. Besides Mixing she helped organising this years Sägewerk Festival with Berlin rave collective @khisdapaze. Stay tuned for next years edition!

In recent years she has moved from her home town of Kiel to Cologne and Toulouse and currently lives in Leipzig. Each of these cities has influenced and inspired her musically. Selessa T is a French/Ivorian DJ currently based in Berlin. Her musical range spans across old-school house, energetic fast house, and groovy techno.

She is a co-founder of the @blurryvision.bln. The collective organizes parties and has a mission to break boundaries and allow artists to venture into different musical territories than they normally play.

You can also catch her every month with her residency on @k_i_radio : « Energy Boost w/ Selessa T. »

The primary goal was to deliver a sophisticated, dance-inducing set with elements of house, electro and techno, adding variety and depth to the groove.

Hailing from Leipzig by choice, eves120’s roots trace back to dresden. As a resident of Objekt klein a she always likes to return to the hallowed halls, which she once helped to create as part of the Palais Palett itself. After a few years behind the bar of her favorite club and second home, she played her first gig in 2017, then influenced by disco, her sets are now mainly house-heavy with progressive and broken influences.

They are also the founders of Layers supporting underrepresented DJs, performance and visual artists from the FLINTA+ community. With frænz:'s rhythmic grooves and limbic sis's drummy soundscapes, bae2bae dilvers a sound that resonate with the pulse of the contemporary music scene.

MI$$ JUNIA is a DJ from Berlin who entered the electronic music scene behind the decks as well as as a club worker around 2022. They have a strong interest in attempting to explore and bring-to-the-dance-floor a mixture of techno and house productions MADE IN & around Detroit and Chicago.

Blessed with incredibly talented DJs, producers, selectors and promoters in their closest vicinity, their sound is majorly influenced by being exposed to diverse genres and being nourished by Berlin‘s established event series.

At 5.2, it might be hard to see DJ Frank when she's behind the booth, but no matter how hard you try you will not be able to ignore her presence on the decks. With a varying and flowing selection that moves inbetween different genres and styles, DJ Frank has found a grimey sweet spot somewhere between electro and breakbeat, bubbling acid basslines and sassy vocals. Overall the type of beats to turn not only a frown, but also a club upside down. Utilizing this skill, DJ Frank has played in notable venues. With her collective @prude__ she has a residency at @radio80000, hosts events and offers DJ-Workshops, setting out to become any techno-scene-gatekeeper's worst nightmare.

limbic.sis - is a boundary-pushing DJ and producer known for her captivating blend of progressive house and mesmerizing acid sounds. With a knack for transporting listeners on a sonic journey, she weaves hypnotic beats, ethereal melodies, and pulsating rhythms into an unforgettable experience. 

Fraenz - developed a passion for electronic music early on. As a DJ she enjoys combining different styles from low paced techno via euphoric vocal soundscapes to powerful House, whilst focusing on multilayered grooves and creating an immersive atmosphere from a blend between old school and contemporary sounds.
