It's been a minute! This piece is comprised of themes from three Dance Dance Revolution songs: "Air Heroes," "Windy Fairy," and "Drop The Bounce". The Pokemon Red/Blue soundtrack is a conscious inspiration as well. I somewhat consider this piece to be a spiritual successor to the "Nuvema Town March" I posted years ago.

I've also fully switched from FamiTracker to LSDJ — I'm really proud that I modded my childhood Game Boy Color so that I could get a true hardware recording of this piece. I've yet to master recording and mixing fundamentals, but I aim to improve on sound quality in future uploads.

Fair Hero's March [Chiptune Arrangement]

Here's a short chiptune version of one of my favorite Pokemon town themes, Nuvema Town! (in case you're wondering, my absolute favorite is Azalea Town from Gen. 2). It's more than a cover, so I'm calling it a remix. Perhaps it's more aptly labeled a "rearrangement," but that doesn't flow off the tongue as well as remix. I went all out to make it sound like a Gen. 1 theme. I even made the retro sprites in the bump art :P

As a music nerd, I like to imagine how songs sound in different meters. When I first heard the theme of Nuvema Town, I fell in love, and instantly started reimagining it. I've been sitting on a march interpretation of the song for years now, but I lack both a personal band and an expertise of high-end music software. So, instead I used FamiTracker. It's not REALLY a march anymore, but I love the ringing bell texture of it, so I'm proud of the finished product.

My good friend and former bandmate, Taylor Morgan, sent me a cute little diddy on his guitar a few months ago. A video game lover, he was taking inspiration from retro video game music, particularly RPG shop themes. He later took a swing at turning it into a chiptune in Reason, which inspired me to arrange it in LSDJ! 

This was completed and uploaded with his blessing – may we collaborate on music for many years to come 💜

Jacket art is by me this time~ I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I sat too long on this track for lack of a "satisfactory" pic. As my coworker put it, "perfect is the enemy of done".

Here's another chiptune cover, this time of Alex Clare's "Up All Night". I took a bit more artistic liberty than on Chin Music, and I'm glad how it turned out. I made the backing track in FamiTracker in 2014! After long abandoning this project, I finally completed it this year (2025) as a vocal recording/mixing exercise. Still have a lot to learn, but I'm happy with my progress thus far.

As to why I chose this song: it's one of my Mom's favorites. Happy Mother's Day 💜

It's  a short piece I wrote in high school (though I don't think I ever showed you it), based off some of those chord progressions you were so interested in. The first half is an improvised intro, the latter is said piece, though I slipped up a bit in the middle of it,

This is an acoustic version of a song my band, the Fuzzy Junkies, plays, though this recording is just me and our guitarist, Taylor Morgan. We were practicing it when we decided to record it on our phones. It isn't perfect, but it's still a pretty good take. I hope you enjoy it!

Dawn (of Gaugezilla) [Acoustic]

For my next cover, I took on "On and Ever Onward" by the Dirty Projectors + Björk. I know this song is pretty obscure, so if you haven't heard it I urge you to go check out the original song as well. It's a lovely piece, with varied rhythms matched with a deliberate vocal line. Speaking of which, it took the greater portion of my time just trying to emulate those vocal attacks and releases. I think I did a good job, but I definitely took my own liberties. I worked hard on this one, so enjoy!

Dirty Projectors + Björk - "On And Ever Onward" [Chiptune Cover]

I made this song for another Game Jam. This time it's a full-length track instead of a short loop (see "Rorschach Jam"). Given the time frame I worked with, I'm exceptionally proud of this one, though I'll probably revisit it to touch it up someday. For the record, our game won this time :D  It's been a year of improvement since the last competition.

Of BEATs And Bleeps [Chiptune]

Another Game Jam, another chiptune. This was for another 48 hour Game Jam, so I only had the time to make another short loop. It is remarkable (to me at least) how much better I've gotten at working in FamiTracker. Compared to "Rorschach Jam" (a song I made for a 48 hour Game Jam a year ago), this song is 3 times as long and is more structurally complex. Needless to say I'm proud of this track, and I hope you love it!

I apologize for the poor audio quality. This is my first track using LSDj, and I don't have a good setup to record my Game Boy (yet). Anyway, this was a fun way to to learn a program, and a more productive use of 8 hours than, say, playing video games :P

I took part in another Game Jam this weekend, here's a loop I made for it. It's short but relatively complicated; that's what happens when you make your first swing composition under a time constraint. I'm happy with how the track came out, and the game (thus far untitled :P) is pretty fun too, I hope to keep working on it. In the meantime, enjoy the music!
