As passionate as he is talented, Imran Khan returns to Meanwhile with a second original EP in the shape of “Equinox”.

 

A growing portfolio of tracks on an array of esteemed imprints has seen Imran Khan’s reputation grow steadily since a 2017 debut on Massive Harmony Records. With a distinctive deep and powerful sound that has gone on to see him feature on the likes of Clinique, Particles and Proton Music, the UK star admits, “I love making electronic music”.

 

A pair of remixes for GMJ & Matter’s “Lost on Origin” represented a Meanwhile debut in April 2020, while February 2021’s “Push Thru / Horizonz” was another notable highlight, showcasing Khan’s craftsmanship with an original EP debut. Now returning with a second offering, the three-track “Equinox” is another masterful addition to the Meanwhile catalogue.

 

Opening proceedings, the title track glitters in a velvety night sky where pinpricks of melodic light illuminate a cavernous bassline. White-noise pans in gentle waves across the stereo spectrum as thickly stratified pads join forces in synthesised union. A true force of nature erupts in symmetrical brilliance where “Equinox” delivers a timeless masterpiece.

 

Full of groove-inspired character, “Generator” builds a new powerline. Heavy bass sequences spawn a heady concoction of low-end energy that revolves in perpetual cycles. Rhythmic dynamism develops in hypnotic patterns as subtle synth motifs are charged by rib-cracking kick and syncopated vitality.

 

Rhythmic intricacy and poise form “In My Head” where popping percussion delivers a vibrant framework that fizzes with brio and intensity. Pulsating waves of sound vibrate in aural synchronicity around ethereal vocal touches, and gentle melodic juxtaposition revolves around a heady mixture of exquisite suspense that represents a new conduit for machine-generated sounds.

 

Through beautiful sonic symmetry where rhythm and melody are balanced with immaculate precision, a new “Equinox” emerges from the brilliant mind of Imran Khan.

المبدع العراقي "الهام المدفعي" في الاغنية التراثية "البنت الشلبية"

كثير من اللغط يدور حول اصل هذه الاغنية ومن هو اول من غناها،حيث ان كثير من الاقطار العربية تتجاذب حجية ملكية هذه الاغنية ، يُعتقد انها كانت ف البداية ل "ملا عثمان الموصلي" في اوائل القرن العشرين  وكان قد غناها  لفتاة من عائلة "الشلبي" العراقية.

لحنها وغناها كثير ، مثل العظيم "سيد درويش" والاخوين "الرحباني" وغنتها بالطبع السيدة القديرة فيروز والهام المدفعي وغيرهم من المطربين.
جدير بالذكر انه تم عمل نسخ من هذه الاغنية غير عربية ايضا لما لها من جمال وروعة. 
في كل الحالات هي اغنية جديرة بالاستماع والاستمتاع.
