Wai Mei Wong is a former early childhood educator living in Toronto, Canada. Her picture book Hello, Dark was shortlisted for the 2022 IODE Jean Throop Book Award, and chosen for the 2022 CCBC Spring Best Book for Kids & Teens Selection. She enjoys poetry, nature walks and funny movies.

She started writing Haiku in October 2022, after she became curious about this deceivingly simplistic form of poetry. Her inspiration comes mostly from her experience or the stories from people close to her.

The scent of a rose
In the forgotten greenhouse,
A fluttering ghost.

From the grave through the womb into the light

No believing no faith no worshipping
We follow the knowledge of the heart
Tearing the paroketh apart

When the darkness comes upon us, show us the way, back into the light...

And we love while the world is in flames
We share scars that can't be healed
You and I both know, there's a long way back from hell
But in our hearts we know what no words can ever tell

Are we dreaming?

Or did we just wake up?

No salvation in blind faith
No redemption in beliefs
We follow the light that dwells within...
