Kyorai was a Japanese haiku poet who first trained as a martial artist before he started writing and became one of Basho’s first disciples.

This haiku poem is part of the Naviar haiku music challenge, where artists are invited to make music in response to a weekly assigned haiku poem. Participation is free and there are no limitations in the songs’ length or genre.

Today I tested and old sample library and a new one I've got to compare their sounds. I used the junto prompt as inspiration for my tests.

I'm a small time alchemist, so I didn't went too far into the transformation. I just wrote a simple piano piece, I submerged the piano piece into some some string orchestra as a potion (a plugin called Fragile String Evolutions) and you can hear the piano piece already evolving. Then the theme is played one last time on some distant, noisy string quartet and low strings (from Cinesamples' Quatre Harmonics).
There's some sort of hi pitched pump organ, that's a mistake (I forgot to mute a test track) , I decided to keep it there in the background.

Step 1: There are, we’re told, seven stages of alchemy, the ancient occult science concerned with the transformation of matter. The third of these stages is “Separation,” which is symbolized by the element of air. Since air is closely associated with the transmission of sound, Separation suggests itself as a stage of alchemy that might be explored through music. Read up a bit on alchemy.

Step 2: Produce a piece of alchemy-inspired music that explores the concepts of "transformation" and "separation" as you interpret them.
