Thomas William Butt, international DJ, producer, mentor, and double bassist.

exploring the world of music, melding acoustic double bass with the hard sounds of jungle, drum and bass, disco, house, and hip hop, searching for the human touch in a quantised music.

As Lazer Ferrari, Thomas pushes new concepts in dance floor music while still keeping the musicality of a performing musician intact. His sets are irreverent, intelligent, cheeky, bass heavy and very danceable, taking elements of B-more, disco, electro, soul, house, uk funky, hip hop, techno, and random party town and somehow fusing them into a gloriously wobbly mass. 

With 25 years of experience, Thomas is no stranger to the finer points of performance and has proved it on many occasions with performances across Australia, The UK, France, and recently Reunion Island. Festivals, clubs, beaches, boats, boat houses, beach clubs, stadiums, arenas, VIP rooms, buses, warehouse raves, and city squares across the world have played host to Thomas Butt’s musical prowess. 

He has performed at such large scale events as The Big Day Out, The Falls Festival, Southbound festival, Meredith Music Festival, FRL Festival, The Woodford Festival, The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, the West Coast Blues and roots Festival, The Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, Pyramid Rock Festival, The Secret Garden Party, Sakifo Music Festival, Festival Generique, to (honestly) name just a few.
He has also supported the likes of Justin Timberlake, The Roots, Moby, Roots Manuva, Kid Koala, the Nextmen, Ozo Matli, De La Soul, The Violent Femmes, That 1 Guy, as well as many local Australian acts including Bliss n Esso, TZU, Youth Group, Bombay Royale, the Bamboos, and many others.

Aside from dj’ing and bass-playing, Thomas works with the community focused Living Music Studio, where he runs music workshops, gives dj lessons and engineers studio sessions with young people with disabilities or who have been through or are currently going through the youth justice system.
