Scottish duo Clouds has been turning out quality techno for more than a decade on a variety of labels (Electric Deluxe, Opal Tapes, Turbo, Soma), and their recent hardcore- and rave-tinged dispatches via the Headstrong imprint they run alongside fellow UK producer Randomer have been particularly intriguing. Now, the pair has started up another label called Maxiboy, which they describe as "a vessel for experimentation within the realms of highly functional techno." The first EP, 'Running It,' will arrive on May 27, but ahead of that we debuted the booming title track on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

French techno collective Subtyl is proud to present its 5th release, with “Octobre Rouge”, a 4 track EP by Munsinger, one of the collective’s resident. Munsinger has made a name for himself playing hardware-only live for the past 3 years. Crafting a unique style of bassline based Techno/EBM hybrid (think of Thomas P. Heckmann in the early 2000), his music finds a balance between light and darkness, energy and fun. Saturated riffs, anarchist synths and metallic drums are to be found in his compositions. Raise your fist and join the dancing march, Munsinger comes with fast beats for a fast youth !

Mørbeck is one of the key figures of the Berlin underground scene, which makes him a fitting piece of the puzzle to Wunderblock Records’ hyper-formulated techno vision. A resident DJ and purveyor of the club scene in Berlin, Mørbeck has released on numerous labels but his most recent achievement stands as his 2013 set up of imprint ‘Code Is Law’, a home for creativity in the techno universe. Now he delivers infectious EP ‘Berlin 95’ drawing on acid and techno influences and blending his unique style with a love for the 80’s and 90’s that inspired him so.

First up we have title track ‘Berlin 95’, nothing less than a forward-thinking acid trance techno to get the heart racing and showcase Mørbeck in his production skills. The vibe gets heavier on ‘Melody Massacre’, a slow-burner featuring heaving percussion and snipped ethereal vocals and synth work which intoxicate the listener.

‘Frankfurt 2000’ is a swirling mass of shimmery percussion, employing those frantic synths which are synonymous with 90’s rave culture that Mørbeck is so inspired by. The last track on the EP finalises an outstanding set, an addictive vocal pattern is combined with twinkling melodies and a moody bass, setting the tone alight.

Berlin 95 EP is just another star to add to Mørbeck’s list of accomplishments, its uniquely produced elements making it a timeless piece of classic techno.

Madrid based artist _asstnt returns to his newly formed Opera 2000 label with four pounding techno cuts entitled ‘Heartless’ EP.

_asstnt’s sound comes from the heart of a passionate artist conveying romanticism, truth and dedication within his music and philosophy. The DJ and producer from Madrid breaks into the underground scene with an industrial, dirty and melancholic sound that stems from his love for hardstyle or hardcore that was instilled in him from an early age. In 2017 his first track was released on an Involve Records compilation together with the artist Roll Dann before starting the Opera 2000 label together in 2020 whose inaugural release saw the light of day in February 2020 and picked up support from the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Matrixxman, Truncate, Fernanda Martins and many more.

'Broken Ties’ rounds things off with a 90s trance feel featuring psychedelic, revolving bass notes and fast-paced grooves that continue to pulsate throughout the effervescent finisher.

WBR (Max Weber) is a techno artist from Berlin, Germany. He likes to produce his tracks with fast and rowdy hi-hats to create some spirit in it. His sounds are known for vigorous kicks and an impressing rhythm. Max is aiming to emphasize the faster and deeper side of underground techno with melodic trance sounds.
