POLAAR is excited to announce the upcoming release of SNKLS, an artist who is redefining the boundaries of footwork and IDM. A collaborator since the label's inception, SNKLS crafts tracks where fragmented percussion intertwines with IDM and dub influences, drawing inspiration from the techniques of concrete music. His style is marked by a minimalist approach, where each element is pushed to its extreme, adding an introspective dimension to his compositions.

With « ELEMENTS », his new four-track EP, SNKLS makes his most powerful statement. Each piece plunges into a realm of bleep and dub techno, while others explore gong sounds and repetitive motifs, subtly evoking traditional Eastern music and minimalism. Building directly on the foundation laid by his previous EP, **Half Horn**, SNKLS skillfully plays with our mental space, transforming this listening experience into an immersive and obsessive journey that is undeniably modern.

I made “Vroom Vroom” after a trip to Guatemala where I made a bunch of field recordings and collaged them together in this track. Some of my closest friends and fam and I spent ages in front of a Maya pyramid in Tikal, clapping and listening to the weirdest echoes bounce back and that’s what you can hear in the track. It was also insanely humid and hot in that jungle, an oppressive atmosphere i’m reminded of in “Vroom Vroom”.

Lucika (they/them) is an artist based in Brussels, Belgium. After years of composing music for others in theaters, they finally did something for themselves : a first solo release with Yuku. Coming from live sound design on & off stage, their field work consistently combines both a reflexive and an experimental practice with a variety of colours, from acoustic to electronic, introspective to adventurous, always focused on a precise rhythmic work. The outcome of this research is often a constructed deconstruction which slides aesthetically between the genres of bass, postclub and breaks.

Earth Memory Colander is a four-track tense and fragmented project that combines organic sounds, sharp rhythms and swarming noises to shape the backdrop of a peculiar story : the tale of Fruglub : a termite who has been chased away from home by their Queen, the termite Queen. Fruglub’s internal journey of confusion, introspection, and potential revenge mirrors the chaotic yet cohesive nature of the compositions.

Unearthing the core roots naturally led him into exploring different pathways that followed the same primordial rhythms. He developed a profound love for FreeTek, Drum and Bass, and Techno. He is normally known for delivering organic live performance sets that are an eclectic amalgamation of these styles and ideas. Mattias Östling makes a welcome return to Love Love as Rolando Simmons for new LP 'Animatronics' after recent forays on Analogical Force and Furthur Electronix and nearly 8 years on from his Love Love debut 'World Building'. Hailing from rural Sweden, Östling creates understated but rich and dreamlike productions which have seen him become a familiar name beyond the braindance circles his music first found a home in, playing live at venues in the UK like Fold and Houghton Festival.  
  
As is characteristic of Rolando Simmons' work, a strong sense of narrative runs throughout this LP. 'Animatronics' stylistically plays across the gamut of Electronica, from the lush, playful braindance of 2nd track 'Purple Soap', to the upbeat syncopated rhythms within 'GlobalGroove Dust Club', and the slowly advancing icy ambient techno dirge of closer 'Memory Defrost'. The ephemeral ambient elements laced throughout allude to a sense of comfortable sedation but darker shades no doubt loom beneath. Measured in its operation and warm in its presentation, the album often steers into unknown spaces, moving through a range of tonal shifts, all the while feeling contained within a unified and detailed imaginary world.
