''this mix was recorded in 1 take on a cloudy friday morning in my apartment in brooklyn, using a pioneer xdj-rx2. i mixed in a loose, collagic style and tried to make a conversation between a diverse set of music that’s been accompanying me this past month. it’s meant to cover a wide range of styles and moods and suit a daily routine, a walk around the neighborhood, getting dressed for the club, or lying in bed in the early morning.''

Sobolik released their debut ep “call” earlier this year on alec pace’s label early reflex, as well as a remix for diessa’s “fuck me” on all centre and a single for the 3024 mentoring program’s compilation “it was always there, vol. 1.” their work folds together percussive club styles from across the spectrum of modern uk and us bass music, informed by a fondness for gossamer ambient, cavernous dub, cozy pop, rich jazz, and lithe hip hop. they recently started a night called “inside voices” focused on drawing together threads from across the club music spectrum with an emphasis on close listening and the spaces between the beats, the first of which featured K Wata of SLINK. their next record is as of yet unannounced, but will arrive this fall.

Suze’s debut EP ‘Structures 1-5’ looks to functional architecture in Sheffield and Bristol for inspiration. 

With previous contributions to the Pressure Dome imprint, Suze lands on Room II Records for his first expansive release. Speaking about the release, Suze says, ‘I wanted to view the structures not as practical, functional objects but rather from a purely aesthetic standpoint, as sculptures almost.

I tried to evoke certain physical characteristics of the structures. The static and repeating shapes found in the structures with looping melodies, or the hard and unnatural materials they’re made from with rough synth timbres.’

Ahead of its release on the 10th December, we have the exclusive stream of the emotive closer ‘Structure 5’ - a track which climbs from metallic pulsating synths into a kaleidoscopic melody filled with colour.

Although rhythmic and dance floor worthy, this track’s primary form takes on the immersion of a Transcendental Meditation. With a driving mantra present throughout, it works through different pockets of your mind; surfacing, making sense of and setting free buried thoughts, while always returning to the propulsive sedation of this motif.

Since debuting modestly in 2014 under the alias Kaboko, Lazy Pluto has juggled a diverse array of inspirations, including early-’80s funk and electro, art rock, raw and classicist house, and Dubstep, while putting a fresh spin on the forms to decayed, disorienting effect.

“Ambient music is something that can be used as a tool, I’ll often use ambient music for meditative purposes, you can create such an interesting emotional sensation with this genre, it’s beautiful and relatively unexplored.”
