One of six tracks, originally produced and cut to vinyl in conjunction with a sound and video exhibition 'Jellied Machines Pt.2' at Kings Artist Run Gallery, Melbourne, October 2023.

The technician lowered the tonearm onto the acetate record, producing a rhythmic sequence of sharp clicks, before decaying into a low, echoing pulse. Lifting it off, he sniffed in irritation and sat down. X “Can’t say I’m surprised; this happens from time to time.” K “huh?” X “…easy enough to miss, you tune out for what…maybe two seconds? A burst of spinal static bleeds through the server’s hypodermic memory barriers and pretty soon your whole trace-line is burnt to a crisp.”

EBB vinyl is lathe-cut as a maximum edition of 10.

The sounds on this record were developed during the Muon Open Studio at Science Gallery Melbourne for National Science week, responding to a generative conversation around particle physics, the agency of muons as interstellar messengers, deep space/time sound rumblings and non-human sonics.

The Muon Open Studio was part of Jon Butt's artwork µMuography, created for DARK MATTERS at Science Gallery Melbourne, in collaboration with Arts at CERN and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics. The project was supported by The Royal Society of Victoria and Melbourne University. In October 2023, the record became a non-human performer, joining the µMuography muon particle detector and human performers Kaylie Melville and Zela Papageorgiou from Speak Percussion, for a collaborative performance at DARK MATTERS.
