The perfect Sunday antidote: A Voyage of Spirits by Funky Chap.

Funky Chap, hailing from Lausanne in Switzerland, recorded this set in his little flat overlooking Lac Léman with the snowy mountains on the other side appearing slowly through the clouds whilst the sunshine caused an orange tinge on the clouds.  

With his musical world filled with groove and unexpectedness, Funky Chap’s idea behind this set was to do something different, putting unpredictable pieces of music together, with a hope of bringing about a few smiles and some music that the listeners haven’t heard before.

It means going beyond the limits we set ourselves and daring to lift ever further, ever crazier. To be a woman is for me to learn to create, to live with other women and to work and grow rich together, to learn to live amongst men and other humans and living and non-living beings, to be able to connect with what is surrounded with: nature, animals, elements, spirits and other creatures..

More than being a woman, is learning to be aligned as a being, with her mind and her body. It is realizing your path and expressing your truth.

A Balance Dilemma
For me always have being all about Balance, life and music. A balance between two excesses: too much or too little. Not too hard nor chill. Between the organic and the inorganic.

Because in between recklessness and cowardice, there is courage, in between secrecy and loquacity, there is honesty. In between impulsiveness and indecisiveness, there is self-control.

But have someone achieved something extraordinary in the path of Balance? Maybe balance is the path to average, the space between extraordinary and ordinary. Giving equal attention to eight things makes you equally average at eight things. Should we follow balance?

About Andre -
The russian dj and producer exposes a delicious sound journey of deeply rolling & flowing downtempo beats. Get excited for a trip through dope valleys, hypnotic canions and sweet peaks – always accompanied by pure coolness. What a spectacular ride!

Grown up in Saint Petersburg, Andre spend years of travelling and experiencing the world from different perspectives, exploring both eastern and western cultures. He has travelled through middle eastern countries, South-East-Asia, Russia, Europe, Indonesia and India. He participated meditations in Nepal and has been djing in Goa, Japan and Bali. All of his colorful travels made a huge impact on his musical concept which turned his sound into a multi-faceted script full of deep, hypnotic and damn sexy vibes.
Coming back to his native city Saint Petersburg, which always was a cradle for rock and electronic music streams in Russia, he met his old fellow Droomie who has been a bass guitar player in several local rock bands. Together they decided to start a new project where they can realise new musical conceptions of producing and playing live sets joined by bass guitar

The storm came and lit up the sky with lightning half an hour into my set. Thunder and rain pounded down on us and we were evacuated into our cars to wait it out. The music stopped everywhere and people ran for cover. But when the rain suddenly stopped, people started slowly crawling out of their holes and I was able to finish my set after all :)

On a full moon day, the little witch attended the very first coven of her whole life, in the company of two elder witches.  It had been such an intense day filled with mystic ceremonies, that she didn’t notice the sun going down and the light slowly fading.  At that moment, the eldest witch showed the way to a nearby small hill.  On the top of the mound, they found 3 small rocks with a worn-out flat top surface.  The 3 women took a seat on the rocks and the young girl sensed that these rock-chairs were already being used for centuries.  They watched in silence as the sun turned red and slowly disappeared behind the horizon.  At that point the old witch pointed into the other direction, and they all watched the breathtaking spectacle of the full moon rising gloriously above the south-eastern sky, while a couple of little bats were circling swiftly above their heads.  The young girl had never seen such a beautiful moon, brighter and more yellow than she had ever seen before while the planet mars was shining brightly in the southern sky with an unusually intense red hue.  After gazing at the sky for a few minutes and being completely absorbed by this celestial spectacle, the novice looked at the 2 other witches and to her surprise they were looking at her instead of observing the moon… and they smiled tenderly.  The youngest witch became a bit shy when she noticed all this attention, while at the same time she sensed that the elder witches were thinking back at their own first night at this very spot.  After this brief intermezzo, the 3 women resumed their observation of the moon.  For a few seconds, the full moon disappeared behind a small cloud.  And just at that moment, a small glowing ball appeared, just a few centimeters across and floating in the air.  If the witches would have stretched out their arms, they would have been able to touch it.  But just at that moment, the moon appeared again in the sky and the little ball disappeared into thin air.  A few minutes later another cloud obscured the moon and the little ball appeared again, bigger than the first time and looking like an exact copy of the moon, with the same soft yellow color.  While the young witch looked at it with big eyes, the old witch stretched out her arm, with the tip of her fingers just a few inches away from the glowing little moon.  The little witch did the same and held her open hands around the glowing object without touching it.  The girl had never felt anything like that before, it was a surprisingly pleasant tingling feeling while her hands captured the subtle energy of the floating object.  The girl felt how the energy gradually became stronger and at one point the symbols on the palms of her hands (which the other witches had painted on her body earlier that day) started to glow in the same soft yellow hue as the moon itself.  And the energy kept on spreading as the symbols on her arms and shoulders started to glow too, and finally all the mystic symbols all over her body started to glow, even the ones on her feet.  Strangely, not all symbols lighted up in yellow as some of them had a faint red glow, just like the planet mars which accompanied the moon on that night…
