Floating dream

Tom Bruce has long kept his nose to the club grindstone. A Sydney stalwart, T.B has worked tirelessly in his efforts to further the harbour city’s dance landscape. From steering his own label ship Start Local Records, to releasing records via clipp.art and Paradiso plus delivering mixes for online radio shows such for Balamii and Area 3000, it’s fair to say Tom’s been putting in work! 

Until recently, Tom had called Nottingham UK home. Over two years, he soaked up all there was to learn about how those in the Northern hemisphere navigate the rave. Now, back on home soil, the dude is spilling over with creativity and vigour. Welcome to ‘Cloudy Days Often Have The Best Sunsets’.

This optimistically titled EP certainly lives up to its name, gliding along like a puck on ice. Straight out of the gate is ‘Faux Personality’, a jolly bongo number with acidic licks and 80’s synth play. If you’re looking to break the world record for the longest light jogging distance, throw this on repeat. In addition, Dutchman and label friend HATT.D lathers on more acid with a tidy remix. 

For seconds we have ‘Get In Line’, a well-brewed grind that like its name suggests should focus you on the task at hand. Clubbing. Consisting of squelchy keys and industrial tones, this one encourages all to join in the collective dance. Taking the subs down a rabbithole, Joe Morris steps in too, reimagining ‘Get In Line’ as something a little more late night (or early morning), however you want to look at it. 

As we roll over to the B side, Tom introduces a hit of melancholy. ‘Cry Club’ is a puller of heart strings. Defined by scuttling percussive elements and angelic vocal calls, this record’s reminiscent of work from the likes of Louf & Tom VR. A gentle ride that’ll make you tear up and smile simultaneoulsy. Here’s proof of a producer with versatility, a man destined to make his audiences feel a melting pot of emotions. Featuring on this one with production credits is Max Cozy, a pal who has rode shotgun with T.Bruce on his journey since day dot. What’s more, FBI Radio host Caitlin Medcalf, offers up her own aggressive take on the matter.  A flip that’ll have techno folk licking their chops. 

Quickly drying our eyes post ‘Cry Club’ comes ‘North of the Underground’. A loungey runner with a spritely edge. Full of comfy chords and rubbed out bass born of a warm weather system, the closer’s jolly as all get-out. 

It’s clear Tom Bruce has a knack for writing top-notch dance music and a crew of talented close contacts, who are gunning with him all the way! Go on...hop on the bandwagon.

This is our fourth EP, we are back with various artists, mainly deep house focused. A bench of artist not signed yet on House Running , except Tell, who accepted to remix as well a new artist, Shedbug, from Australia. 
Saints by nite, a young Belgian artist from Ghent, invites us to discover his house universe with warm and sordide tones, TR-505 sounding, in that track called "Ballpark Figures". 
Shedbug, from Australia, who moved us with this track "Captain", very careful, relaxing and melodic production. 
Chinau, a french guy, who offer us "Pacific War", a powerfull track with a certain depth in synthesizers and powerfull 909 drums. 
And finally, from far East, the UFO this fourth EP, Djoiyan from Japan, surprised us with this track "Memories", which starts very minimalist and gradually reveals a classic housy piano chord, very stunning! Enjoy, share and download it!

Shedbug - Captain (Tell Remix)

For the latest release on Rob da Bank’s dance focussed imprint Silver Bear Recordings, longtime collaborators Krywald & Farrer have turned in a three track EP. The Percolate residents are well respected across London for their exemplary skills behind the decks, and the wonderfully titled ‘Top Pocket Persies’ EP is evidence their talent also extends to the studio. Today we premiere the lead track, ‘Spoon Billed Sandpiper’.

‘Spoon Billed Sandpiper’ is testament to the duo’s keen understanding of songwriting. The song begins with a meditative drum pattern, which grows more propulsive as pads begin to swirl around it. An early breakdown is accompanied by a heart torn vocal sample before the beat comes back in, sounding even more frenetic to ensure to send the floor into raptures.

The Houseum Records family is proud to announce that it continues to grow with this new Various Artists EP. To fly to new horizons, Astro, Sunfleur, Harisson BDP and Aemone gathered a collection of 4 tracks with deep and dubby sounds.

Ready for a power takeoff with Astro? From the beginning, this track sends us to another planet with the bassline. And the hypnotic beats certainly make a spacey banger! Sunfleur embarks you in the ship Vostok 1, for a cosmic ballad mixed with sweet and nostalgic lines of synths. This very smooth groove and these robotic vocals make us float.

On the B side, Harrison BDP gives us a darker track. The gravity leads us to a real fusion of reverberating drum lines and entrancing pads, It feels like entering a black hole. It’s been a while since our stalwart for sensitive Dubtechno and classy Detroit sounds has blessed us at 200 Records with a release. Now, we happily present his delicate debut LP. Offering an artist’s big picture. An artist, honing his craft with refined, gentleman-like attitu- de.
Till’s sound caught our hearts, ears and minds a decade ago. And ever since his first release in 2010, Till maintained serving ideas with a humble love for distinctive sounds. Everything falls in place in his digestable, organic flow of sounds and patterns. Birthing trademark tracks, working like perfectly painted pictures. Magnetitzing you, drawing you in. Proving, that as much as gravity keeps us grounded and centered, it was gravity that spurred the ancient dream. To fly! His well-balanced tracks keep you based and make you fly all the same!
Till draws on a wide range of technoid music. Oscillating effortlessly between softer ambi- ances, crisp beats, classy synths and warm, wailing bass-lines. Really closing in on his own sound, this album concludes his sound research over the last 10 years. As he told us, he was looking for an album, which ‚won’t bother you’. For real... the most modest aim we heard from any artist. His music though – totally lives up to it. „Gravity“ is a thoughtful and warmly pulsating, reliable companion, made of what Till defines as Techno.
His dynamically ever evolving Live Acts were shaping this album, and its classic design: 8 tracks, a double vinyl – tracks that could form one of his sensual yet driving, energetic live- sets. Elegant, majestic, full of soothing, positive energy and finer pressure, „Gravity“ defines (y)our space and pace: „Leave“ opens up „Gravity“ - a festive ambient affair, proper intro stuff. On 126bpm - should you not believe it. That tempo, by the way, caters for all tracks on „Gravity“! „Alright“ has us imagine a night-flight by means of eclectic Detroit styles. Elec- troid, exciting, erotic – that’s the feel of this beautiful body of a track. „Decade“,„Even“ and „Receive“ showcase those dubby Krüger chords we’re all fond of here at the camp. Till ho- nours their history, enriching them again. „Two“ bows down to acid in a light-hearted way, shaping a dense nocturnal atmosphere of special texture.
The second non-clubtrack, „Distance“ closes the album with tickling high-hats, scattered beats and flirtatious bass-pulses that seem to release us again. Off we gravitate – into some beautiful orbit. Floating totally free again, after this array of timeless gravity shots. So? Gra- vitate with Till to whatever extent and spot you feel!
