About Koudede :
Renowned Tuareg guitarist and songwriter, Koudede died on Sunday, October 28th of 2012 in a car crash on his way home to his family in Niamey, Niger. Koudede was well-known and respected in the Tuareg music scene for his solo work and participation in the groups Ishumar and Inerane.
Born in Agadez (Niger), Koudede grew up in Arlit, in northern-central Niger, between the foothills of the Ayar (Aïr ) Mountains and the sands of the Sahara. He made his first guitar from a tin can. By the time he held a real guitar, he was good enough to accompany musicians such as Abdallah Oumbadougou (Takrist ‘n’ Akal).
After spending time in Algeria and Libya, he moved to Agadez, known as the Tuareg capital, and in typical nomadic fashion started to travel around the Sahel region, following the calendar of family celebrations and community festivals.
He played for a time with other Tuareg musicians before composing and performing his own original songs. He came to the notice of the public for the first time at the ‘Cure Salée’ festival (‘salt cure’).
Koudede’s music was based on a traditional ternary rhythmic structure originated from the ‘tende’ – the Tuareg drum, which is played stretched across two pieces of horizontal wood. Initially, Koudede used his guitar like the ‘tehardent’ (three string lute), but eventually he took advantage of the full harmonic range of his guitar, developing his own individual style.
Koudede’s lyrics were based in Tuareg poetry, which recounted primarily what the traveler sees around him. Koudede’s songs were arranged in the form of repeated refrains, picking up and developing proverbs, advice or parables over the course of the verses. His songs spoke of young married life; camels; virtues such as patience; children’s games; of distant Tuareg camps and difficult loves. Sometimes there was anger – against cowardice, laziness, corruption or unjust wars.

About this edit :
A friend once told me that our vision of the music landscape is skewed by what is available on internet. We believe that it is a mirror of the music that exists all around us, without realizing that it only hosts the music that major record labels would upload - leaving behind the rich & diverse music ecosystem from smaller & indie ones, that can only be found in record stores around the world. There has been in the past couple of decades an uptick in new labels like Habibi Funk or Analog Africa that would take on the gargantuan task of traveling, digging & republishing those gems - allowing us to discover this music. The credit goes to them. I couldn't be more thankful.

The minute I listened to this track, I was struck by its raw energy & the charisma of the singer. I had to make an edit, anything, that would let me play it alongside my tracks in sets. I've also tried not to take too much away from the voice & rhythm of the original one, while adapting it to a more club friendly format. I hope you enjoy it!

About this compilation : 
We are in a new era, a time that many say has come to connect with the sacred feminine energy and sow the seed of healing to the wounded masculine energies. It is time to reconnect with the mother energy and ancestral wisdom, leave our fears behind and wake up all together.
In "Cantos a la Madre" (Chants to the Mother) each artist presents a vision of the concept of "mother" in their own "chant", forming a multilingual compilation that investigates the development of a new electronic music in harmony with the lyrical tradition of different cultures. It includes songs in native languages of South America such as Quechua and more unusual musical experiments in German, Ukrainian, Hebrew, as well as many in Spanish, English and more. 

With a large femenine presence plus the invitation to work in a mixed way between women and men, the album is an attempt to take electronic music one step further, rescuing the use of the human voice and, as well, reflecting on this broad and wonderful concept of ¨the mother¨, a concept that is transversal to all living beings on this planet.

All donations on bandcamp will go directly to the artists, heavily affected by the closure of all live shows for a long time. We invite the public to listen and collaborate with this project with the intention that any help, whether in donations or simply by sharing this album (that’s free!), is in itself a little but important seed for the rebirth of this art and part of its community.

We hope you enjoy this release with a flavor of folktronica, downtempo, house and experimental, created with endless love as a musical jewel to delight not only the ears, but also the heart and soul.

About the EP:
As if it came from another era or maybe another dimension, we are proud to welcome the new collaborative EP from producers KDS and Stabfinger from France and Italy, with the singer Amina Annabi from Tunisia. Initially conceived as a live show, the sonic collaboration of these three artists navigates between the most contemporary and electric sound of downtempo, but with ancestral roots of North African sang melodies, orchestrated by the incredibly talented Amina Annabi and thought of as a multidisciplinary show that combines aerial circus, lights show and live instruments.

"Pérola Branca is the project formed by the producers @gutopedigone and @mandruvamusic , longtime friends and creators of several underground parties in Minas Gerais, Brasil.
The name means "White Pearl" in portuguese, which came out, actually, from an LSD trip when they both could see a shiny weird pattern though a piece of glass but spent 2 hours trying to describe the details.
After this peculiar process and agreeing they were both seeing an white perl, they realised that they were seeing the same thing but in a completely different way. The Pérola Branca is, after all, the concept of how people see the world through their own lenses, experience it in their own way and, still, are able to have empathy with untranslatable and unique feelings."

About Mari Boine (http://www.mariboine.no/)
She was born and raised in Gámehisnjárga, a village on the river Anarjohka in Karasjok municipality in Finnmark, in the far north of Norway. Boine's parents were Sami. The Sami people, also spelled Sámi or Saami, are the Arctic indigenous people inhabiting Sápmi, which today encompasses parts of far northern Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Kola Peninsula of Russia, and the border area between south and middle Sweden and Norway. 
Their traditional languages are the Sami languages and are classified as a branch of the Uralic language. They made a living from salmon fishing and farming. She grew up steeped in the region's natural environment, but also amidst the strict Laestadian Christian movement with discrimination against her people: for example, singing in the traditional Sami joik style was considered "the devil's work".  Sami languages, and Sami song-chants, called yoiks, were illegal in Norway from 1773 until 1958…in Russia, Sami children were taken away when aged 1–2 and returned when aged 15–17 with no knowledge of their language and traditional communities. 
As Boine grew up, she started to rebel against the prejudiced attitude of being an inferior "Lappish" woman in Norwegian society.
Boine's songs are strongly rooted in her experience of being in a despised minority. She allways give a positive message thru her music, often singing of the beauty and wildness of Sapmi (Lapland). The title track of 'Gula Gula' asks the listener to remember 'that the earth is our mother.  On 7 October 2012, Boine was appointed as a "statsstipendiat", an artist with national funding, the highest honour that can be bestowed upon any artist in Norway.

A dear friend introduced me to DakhaBrakha around 8 years ago and there music instantly had a profound effect on me . To me there music is a beautiful blend of all the elements i love in music: Emotion, Groove and Psychedelia. I originally remixed “A Doshchyk Nakrapaie” for my live set a couple of years ago and since then it has lived in many different forms. It's nice to finally share a version of it with everyone.
