As a dj,  its my job to capture the energy of the current moments.  My mixes are a capture moments from  my mental state and also the collective as a whole. For this mix I wanted to explore the feeling of grief. I feel collectively we are all grieving. Grieving the past, grieving the present and most importantly grieving the future. 
With this collective grief we are all acting a bit insane. 🤛🏽
So much fighting around the world and everyday a new country that needs to be free. I see people fighting who should be on the same side, people who are actually fighting the same fight.  When does it end? 
What is the sound of grief? 

I was inspired by the Haka the Maori people performed at the New Zealand Parliament hearing Nov 15, 2024 in response to a bill proposal that aims to reinterpret the country’s founding treaty. 
“We perform haka as an expression of pride,” says Karl Johnstone. Kapa haka, a traditional Māori posture dance, “was about not only intimidating the opponents, but it was about how do we actually prevent degenerating into a battle?” he says. “Haka is all about the expression of your inner energy. The shaking of the hands,” says Johnstone, “that’s an expression of our life force … it’s showing that there’s an energy within you.” 
I wanted to start the mix with Haka because I feel it represents the process of grief, depression and energy that must be transmuted. ✨

I was also inspired by the beautiful music of Palestine and Sudan. I hope you will allow yourself the pleasure of hearing new genres of music. 🌅
 I loved the new Tyler the Creator album as he explores the ideas of paranoia, death and rebirth. Solange - A seat at the table, Sampha’s - The Process are two albums that capture these themes as well. 
Lastly, GNX -Kendrick Lamar's new album really is about him having it and I had to include of the best songs on the album. 

This mix is: soulful, introspective and surreal
