Mahatma Gandhi once challenged, “We must become the change we wish to see.” The agents for positive change in North County, St. Louis and beyond, are each of us. You and I possess, literally, the loose change that will subsidize efforts to effectually address the situations of needy people. Minor adjustments to schedules and shifting of priorities affords time for us to affect change through service. More time to promote justice for those treated unjustly.

Recent events in North County, specifically the organizational instability of Ferguson-Florissant School District, pose significant threats to our community’s economic vitality, livability and local autonomy, as well as the district’s accredited status.

Nelson Mandela stated, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” His words inform and under girds our efforts to improve the educational reality of youth and families in Ferguson-Florissant and towards strengthening our community as a whole.
