Idle Minds

One way to donate to the #BlackLivesMatter movement is by playing "Black Lives Matter Donation Playlists" on YouTube. I started playing five of these videos at once, in different tabs, and found that the cacophony really resonated with how I see the chaos of the current climate in our nation. I recorded it, contrasting the single voice with everything at once, and edited it so that important, impactful messages leaked through. Sometimes the messages are drowned out by everything else that’s happening. Sometimes one single voice stands out. Share Black voices and Black stories; all the voices recorded in this track are Black voices telling their experiences.

Black Lives Matter (compilation by Lea Fetterman)

I composed this piece for solo violin in 2019, when my loyal dog passed away. It started as an improvisation, and is a piece full of grief. The middle holds some lightness, a memory of all the wonderful times we had with our puppy. We miss him so much.

Lea Fetterman lives and works as a freelance violinist, conductor, and teacher in the Puget Sound area. Alongside her music making, she arranges and composes music for a variety of ensembles and genres, including folk, singer/songwriter, alternative, ambient, and classical.
