For this installment of my chill series I found inspiration the moment I heard a vocodered voice singing Hotel California in the Luxxury edit. A week later I heard AfroQBen's amazing remix of Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith and I was off to the races. Being a New Wave kid as a teen I didn't get into many of these songs until my adult years and yet somehow I listen to this mix and it makes me feel like a teenager again.

In the new generation pool of musical arts, DeezRuggz offers an undeniable edge to his sound that has him accelerating at diligent pace. Dimitri Pogrebnoi from Eastern Europe has had an ear for music since childhood. Picking up a guitar in early adolescents, the connection was immediate and his talent undeniable. The crafty way he plays the strings has left many staggered as they watch, listen and dance to all types of music on an instrument that is typically restricted to few sounds. It is not an overstatement to say that DeezRuggz has proven himself to be a multifaceted artist. From here, he has carried his love for music in general into the Electronic scene where he plays genres including funk, liquid drum and bass, house, techno and halftime showing us again that there is no one genre labelling this wild individual. When asked why he makes music, he states that he aims to create that Filthy Stinky Disco atmosphere we all have grown to admire.

Ignite! 2019 was AMAZING!!!  By far my favorite burn ever!

EVERYONE went so hard this year, from all the virgins burning like vets, to the Effigy team constructing a playground of rebirth that would not die, to Camp Bliss growing exponentially and embracing us with its magnificently loving tentacles, to the PLF & Fire Triangle collab doing it AGAIN, this time bigger, louder, brighter and better!

I really hope you enjoy this set!  I went in hard on the Jersey Club to get things real bouncy, got a little pretty with some Future Bass, we got dirty again with some Trap, went tribal with some Afrohouse, threw a little Breaks in there, and even got Levi to call a rewind on that NASTY Ray Volpe remix of Noahplause's "Runnin"!  We finished things off with a dedication to Camp Bliss OGs Mario and Levi:  Juelz's remix of "Bust Down on the Gang"!



On a personal note, I also really needed this set in particular -- it's been a very emotional year, and while at the burn, I felt I didn't have a good performance at PLF's stage Friday night and I got really in my head about it...  I think it was a combination of my non-constructive anxiety going into it, my selection, Thom Dunn killing it at Camp Bliss (wish I could have heard it!), and people saving their energy a little for Saturday, but it still messed with me... more than it should have.  The next day, I had a great time performing a drum 'n' bass/halftime back-to-back set with MoJoe-T at PLF Saturday afternoon, and I even hopped behind the open decks right before the effigy at Camp Bliss, so both of those sets got my spirits up.  When it came time to play at Camp Bliss Caturday night, it was 1:45am and I was following up a really fun set by Citron, so I had some internal pressure... but it was constructive pressure to move on, be fully present in the moment and enjoy myself, so I could help others enjoy themselves.  Also, sorry, I forgot to record the first ~10 minutes, so please start yelling "HIT RECORD!!" next time you see me get behind the decks... I blank out  :P
