I woke up feeling nostalgic this morning, so I sat down at the piano and started flipping through old notebooks. I came across this song that I had forgotten about and I couldn't remember the melody, so I went through old voice memos to see if I had a recording (I often record songs on my phone when I'm just writing them). And when I came across this rough take and realized by the time stamp that I had written this on my 19th birthday it gave me all the feels. Here's a song for the summer time blues, for youthful optimism and its counterpart disappointment, for moments of reflection and tenderness. Complete with me fumbling around for the last chord because I hadn't written an ending yet.
