When Miranda's birds would head out North
then you'd know it was Autumn time.
Just before the dawn they'd go catch the wind, 
casting shadows across the pine.

While outside in the street, the machinery sounds.
Blue slaves of repetition sing

So then Harry got married and we danced all night
with all that poison in our blood.
Some day he'll live in a big old house
with three daughters and a son.

But I'm not really sure that's the life for me,
out where the heart don't sing.
I'm the kind that needs to feel it all at once,
sorrow's how I'm getting free.

But then we lost Jenny down by the water,
it was near the shoreline hotel.
And we looked out there in the darkness,
but all we found was ourselves.
And she came back in the morning
though she wasn't quite the same.
