Do we ever have enough of uplifting breakbeat? The type that overloads on hope and outpouring happiness? 
Based in Porto, Portugal, Rave Child is off to an exciting start with the new label and event series, Kokölò. True “to move forward” meaning behind its name, the label ethos focuses on a specific mood or state of freedom rather than a particular genre. 

In the inaugural ‘The Birth’ EP,  no-face-entity Rave Child captured that feeling of a soul discovering the dancefloor for the first time with all its naivety and joy. United in the use of breaks, and chopped voices meld with dreamy melodies, each track on the three-track EP takes on the unique, nostalgia permeated sonic gradient. Mastering by Vril and Andreas Lubich, aka Loop-o, make this package easy not to miss. 

Feel like a kid again on properly induced euphoria aka the album’s opener ‘It never was.’ Daydreaming at the heart of playful lights and colors, beaming to a point of galvanized innocence, getting loose in some utopian infinity; this track lifts spirits and launches moves like nobody watches. We’re thrilled to introduce Extase Urbaine's debut EP, "Sacred Winds"! Hailing from Athens, the DJ/Producer presents 4 tracks that delve into the darker realms of Techno leftfield.
Kicking off the EP is the title track, “Sacred Winds”, a hypnotic burner that sets the tone. “1990” ramps up the energy, while “Wet Abyss” unleashes a high-tempo debauchery monster. Slowing things down, “Hide in the Light” offers a mesmerizing blend of new beat and trance.
On the remix front, we have the returning Alpha Sect who speeds up “Hide in the Light” with a Techno / EBM angle. And last but certainly not least, Zaatar puts her signature spin on “Sacred Winds”.

Berlin-based record label All You Can Beat prepare to unleash the highly-anticipated ‘Calling Earth‘ album from veteran German DJ and producer Martin Böhm aka Housemeister...Our pick from the album is 'Zeitsprung', which translates to 'Leap In Time'. As Housemeister steps into a dark disco basement populated by moon-like leather creatures. Erol Alkan welcomes Joshua James to Phantasy for his debut release ‘Coarse’ featuring The Bunker NY producer Justin Cudmore on remix duties.

A fixture of London’s dedicated queer club scene, James maintains a trio of distinct residencies, including XOYO, the notorious 'Savage' parties, as well as fortnightly on Rinse FM. On this unapologetic and upfront track, the DJ-turned-producer instantaneously captures the raw energy and sexuality that underpin his life by night, backed by a remix from a key figure in the US underground, Justin Cudmore.

Designed with sweatboxes and serious sound-systems in mind, ‘Coarse’ wastes no time in establishing its rude intent; hammering jack-bass, orgasmic cut-up vocals and larger-than-life synthlines flirt expertly from the off, before the track descends into outright sleaze in the spirit the of gnarlier edge of acid-house. Only a series of breathless gasps indicate you’ve safely reached the other side... A personal weapon for James each week behind the decks, as well as for Phantasy founder, Erol Alkan, ‘Coarse’ is a powerful dancefloor paean with only one (well, maybe two) things on its mind.

Having turned heads with his own uncompromising acidic perspectives on labels such as The Bunker NY, Phonica White and Honey Soundsystem, New York-based DJ and producer Justin Cudmore unfurls ‘Coarse’ in a trippier, deeper direction, nonetheless still bumping in a style that subtly recalls the peak-time sound of classic 90s NYC clubs like The Tunnel.

In 2004 I was asked to remix Nitzer Ebb’s “Murderous”. I always had an interest in the music labeled as “EBM” including bands like Front 242 and it even had a strong influence on the band that was then started by myself called “Alloy Mental”. It’s always been a simple connection between punk and techno. 

I had long wanted to work with Douglas (J McCarthy) again but we had never actually met each other or spoken before, so it wasn’t until last summer I saw a news story saying that Nitzer Ebb were touring again and it just sparked the thought that I really should try contacting him again. I sent a message and then forgot about it. A few months later I got a message back from him and within a couple of days flights were booked to Belfast and he was coming to spend a few days here writing music with me. We got on extremely well and had an amazing few days talking, drinking and occasionally making music. 

The results are here in this EP. I wanted to capture a take on something punk that is just drums bass and a vocal, while slightly reminiscent of 80’s bands like DAF or Cabaret Voltaire, using a power beat from the famous Linn drum machine so it feels like a kind of stiff disco beat and just stripping everything else away to leave it bare and raw for the dance floor.
