A week ago we came across an email in our inbox with the subject: ‘Some Moody Shit’. Sure enough it was the next installment of the tangible sound podcast series coming from Sheffield’s very own Lo Shea. The first time we heard the sounds of Liam O’Shea was back in 2012. Our good Friend Marco had picked up one of his Seaghdha records and we’ve been hooked on his unique, deep and dubbed out rhythms ever since. 

For those of you who don’t know, Seaghdha was a vinyl-only imprint Lo Shea created to showcase his eclectic productions from 2012 through 2014. Each release was limited to 300 pieces of wax and gained vocal support from some of the most discerning selectors in the game such as Christopher Rau, Brawther, Mosca, Vince Watson & Darko Esser to name a few. In 2013 Lo Shea also opened the 100 Years label with two slabs of Techno which were inspired by sounds recorded at the Forgemasters Steelworks in Sheffield. Seaghdha & 100 Years have proven Lo Shea has vision, range & impeccable taste and after Phonica Records and Ripperton’s Tamed Musique commissioned him for their own labels, the request just keep pouring in. 

Residing in Sheffield, Lo Shea is the curator, resident and founder of Hope Works where he has played with everyone from Theo Parrish to Ben UFO and Levon Vincent to Pearson Sound. Upcoming events in the Hope Works warehouse include Rødhåd, Hodge, Funkineven, Greg Beato and an extended set from the Detroit pioneer Jeff Mills. Next month Lo Shea will also open the Hope Works record label and one of the tracks, “Capacity Creep” can be heard within this mix. 

With some exciting releases on the horizon, a fresh Live set readied for 2015 as well as a string of solid Dj gigs which include Panorama Bar on the 15th of November, Lo Shea is hitting the ground running…  

To our London crowd you can catch Lo Shea playing for Jaunt at basing house on the 11th of October. We’ll be there for sure... right up at the front.

La semaine dernière nous sommes tombés sur un mail avec comme objet ‘Some moody shit’. Il s’est avéré qu’il s’agissait du nouvel épisode de la série de podcasts tangible sound réalisé par nul autre que Lo Shea. C ‘est en 2012 que nous avons entendus pour la première fois les sons de Liam O’Shea. Seaghda et 100 Years on prouvé que Lo Shea possède un gout imprenable pour la musique, un visionnaire. Après que Phonica Records et Tamed Musique l’ont signé sur leurs labels, les requêtes n’ont fait que de se multiplier.

Les Londoniens peuvent voir Lo Shea jouer pour Jaunt à Basing House le 11 octobre. On y sera évidemment.

Brawther's latest vinyl-only three-tracker is only getting a limited pressing, meaning that to get your hands on this stellar record you're going to have to be quick. Never fear though as we have a stream of one of the cuts.

Arguably the best track on the EP, 'VXVXVX' is a rolling masterpiece that oozes groove from the off. It effortlessly blends warm pads with thumping kicks and of course some cosmic whirrings that Brawther has down to a tee. Absolutely stunning.

After watching Space Jam for the 374th time of my life, the sound-track always sticks with me every-time I finish watching it.
