Back with another track! For this one I only used sounds from the Roland Fantom X synth I got (except the white noise SFX, which was done in the box). I tried to get this to sound somewhat vintage, and the recording and editing process of it was quite interesting. So nowadays it's rather impossible to record an unclean signal, so to get that sound I used some cheap TS cables and an old USB audio interface that crashed my Ableton Live every 5 minutes or so. Then I did some standard modern processing in Cubase, and compressors brought that noise up quite a lot. I also used some of these cheap plugin emulations of actual outboards that sound crappy and analog at the same time.

Recording and production was done in Ableton Live 11, mixing was done in Cubase 12.
External FX used: Steinberg, Ableton, Slate Digital, A.O.M. 
Tempo: 1/4 = 120 bpm
Time Signature: 4/4
Key: F minor

{|L~Ch|} - Intergalactic Horizons

Music is made out of accumulation, and that which follows is tied to that which has come before. Afterness explores remembered, traced, stretched and altered musical fragments, that weave alongside fixed media created out of old sun damaged recordings of songs I wrote as a teenager, discovered on my Dad's obsolete Pocketmemo recorder. The piece explores the idea of memory being enacted on musical material in the form of transformations such as displacement,  interference and erosion.

Hymn to Asclepius by Coreen Morsink performed by Argyro Seira as part of a concert featuring Canadian and Greek Women Composers sponsored by the ACWC/ACC.  Recording from performance March 4th, 2024, St. Catherine's Theatre, Kifissia, Greece. 

The Hymn to Asclepius for solo violin is one movement from a longer work called The Lockdown Sketches which was a collaboration with violinist Peter Sheppard Skaerved.  The work quotes a fragment of ancient Greek music found in an excavation near Epidavrus, Greece which was dedicated to Asclepius.

Tarr was commissioned for the 2014 International Workshop for Young Composers. It was premiered by the Italian Divertimento Ensemble. Tarr received its US premiere by Mise-en Ensemble, at the 2015 Mise-en Music Festival in NYC. Tarr began as a chamber arrangement of my orchestral work A Thousand Tongues, and gradually found its own musical  path. The title is a reference to Hungarian film director Béla Tarr.

I - My thoughts fly in at your window..
II - ..As a flock of wild birds

‘My Thoughts Fly In At Your Window’ (2020), is a chamber work in two movements inspired by the final line in Sara Teasdale’s poem ‘At Night’, which reads ‘my thoughts fly in at your window, a flock of wild birds.’ Each movement is titled after the two halves of the sentence so that the first movement leads into the second as if thoughts are expressed within one and turned into and released as birds in the other. The structure of the central melodic line in ‘My thoughts fly in at your window..’ acts as an unspoken vocalization of the poem, which breaks into a flurry of motivic fragments to emulate the building up and accumulation of swirling thoughts at the conclusion of the passage. These thoughts are then freed in the second movement scored for strings ‘..as a flock of wild birds’; the harmonic foundation of the central melodic line in the first movement returns as delicate figures to create a fragile sound-world emulating thoughts expressed with the liberty of wild, untethered birds.’
