U.S. based producer & Beatsupply staple Philichordia is back with a 14 track album named ‘Distortions of Reality’. Beautiful piano recordings and classic arrangements mixed with lofi beats are present throughout the entire release. Diving deeper into this record we meet familiar faces from the label - Esolagoto & Isaac Tumor contribute two outstanding remixes of ‘Shimmer’ that introduce a wonderful contrast to the main production style of this album.

A new yet familiar face is joining Philichordia on his track ‘Laidback’ - Isuna runs Shimotsuki Club, an online music festival that we've been invited to in the past. Congratulations on yet another amazing album!

Distortions of Reality

Occasionally when two creative forces cross paths, the result can be an enigmatic exchange of pure inspiration, a web of connections that continually grows with imaginative impulses firing off like synapses in every direction. Such was the case when Unrush-founder Mareena and her dear friend Resom began collaborating at the end of 2020. The resulting project, entitled M2N2, was born as a result of their shared love for all things ambient, with both possessing an extensive catalog of records that spans all of the genre's many facets. Their first appearances solidified the collaboration as a worthy endeavor, with well-received contributions to the CCC Online Festival and gigs in Mexico at the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato and the Hertzflimmern Event in Mexico City. 

For this month's Unrush mix we are presented with a recording clocking in at just over 2 hours where the two friends playfully react and interact with one another, digging deep into the corners of their respective collections. It's just in time for the warmer days where things can get hectic, a gentle reminder to slow down, be present, and foster the connections you have that enable you to grow...

Ambient Daily - Episode 36 - Summer Breeze

It has been about 53 months since the last solo Purl album was released. 'Renovatio' marked the end of an emotional process related to music-making that I felt had become too heavy for me to continue, and the title signified the rebirth I felt was necessary. I thought at the time that perhaps this would be the last Purl album.

Since then there have been 17 singles, EPs and collaborative albums released that in different ways opened my mind and heart beyond anything that came before. There has also been solo releases planned that did not happen (yet), for different reasons.

'Himmelsandar' isn't really something new. Then again, I wonder if there ever has been or will be anything new from this stream of awareness and emotion that I call Purl. It somehow seems to me like everything essential was present from the beginning, and I'm not sure if anything has been added to it since. I dream of starting new projects; painting on a blank canvas again. But nothing here was painted on such a canvas. Everything was painted and repainted, so many times that the original idea may no longer be distinguished other than as the faintest wisp of something... ethereal.

Along the way the DeepWarmth alias sprung up for his stuff with Beats including more experimental stuff concering Drone infused beatwork. Now making music as DeepWarmth and James Shain for all Ambient, he strives to showcase his love for Ambient. Aside from being an artist, he runs the Electronic Music label Cold Fiction Music and the Ambient label Moody Drones with fellow artist Sage Taylor.
