VILIFY - Genre Is A Social Construct (Vol 4)

A collaboration between friends and life long enthusiasts of breakbeat and rave music in all its various forms, Brent Aquasky (Amen Brother/Vinyl Fanatiks) and Damo B (Emotec/Outta Limits) are the players behind AmenTec. 

An imprint dedicated to the cross pollination of artists who record on their respective labels. Their mission: coming together to fill the spaces between the Electro, Techno and good old fashioned UK Hardcore. 

Encompassing the sounds and all important ethos of the golden era of rave, AmenTec has been making its mark over the last few years. Welcoming upstarts MOY, Bufo Bufo, Diplomat & Beagle, Fugitive, Silver Fox and Sound Synthesis to don their battle gear and reach for the lasers on this collector focused “special edition” battle series. 

With the label approching its 7th release, the time is right to present a 13 track compilation of select works to celebrate their mission. “Off Ya Box – Part One” brings together label highlights and a whole bunch of exclusive cuts. 

From the spatial Acid tones of Sound Synthesis to the juddering Tech-Step of Bobo, there’s no messing when it comes to the robotic Funk of Dawl, the jilted waves of Zobol, the EZ roll of Lloyd Stellar, or knockout sounds of Flatliner for that matter.

Dotwish with the hat trick! Add two more saves from Vendi and Trik and you have a flawless win, even on a cold rainy night in London , supported by most underground artists in Minimal/ House Genres, recently by Cosmjn (playing Infiltrate on his Japan Tour this year). 3 original tracks with Alternate reminding of his older obsession with elegant, tight minimal swinging grooves to Vacuum Wave that is a peak time roller and the dark and atmospheric Infiltrate. Remix by VENDi is a highlight on its own due to the mastery shown here by Ludovic, containing real power under a steady groove. Trik takes us on a totally different journey with intricate monologues and sounds to perfectly complete the 17th release by the label.

London-based producer Kanyalang! hits Truth Radio for the third time. This time he displays his 'Sometimes I Feel Weird' EP containing four high-tension breakbeat tracks. The EP was written throughout lockdown, with the title reflecting the strange sensations and feelings he experienced trying to make sense of the whole thing. Sonically, Kanyalang! tries to create a contrast between harsher more visceral drums, with warmer pads resulting in something that lingers between euphoria and intensity for the dance floor.
