About ona:v! 

A scientist by day and a DJ by night, Polish-born and Edinburgh-based ona:v began DJing in Edinburgh clubs in 2019. With distinctive taste for fast-paced and energetic tracks, she packs her DJ mixes with high-energy electro and techno. With the current techno scene being out of underground and subject to market forces, she finds gems amongst old and less known tracks and artists to create her own sound. 
She is an advocate for female representation in the electronic music industry and believes the best way to increase the proportion of women in the electronic music world is platforming – and so, her mixes and sets always feature amazing tracks by amazing female producers! 
To further promote women DJs, together with another Scottish DJ, KT.K, ona:v founded an all-female electro/techno DJ collective EPiKA. The aim of EPiKA is to promote women playing heavier flavours of electronic music through organising a series of female-led nights in Edinburgh and to create a welcoming and supportive environment for beginner female DJs. EPiKA’s launch night was scheduled for April 2020 and cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, but plans are under way for 2021. ona:v also uses one of her radio residencies to promote female DJs by inviting female and non-binary DJs to record mixes for her monthly show on Edinburgh’s EH-FM community radio (CiRCLE by ona:v). To make the clubbing world more welcoming, she also runs a meetup page, where strangers can meet and join her and her friends for electronic nights out.  

Despite the pandemic closing clubs (in Scotland, clubs have not opened since March 2020), 2020 was busy for ona:v. In February, she played at the launch of electro-only night by the Scottish electro collective SLR. After clubs closed, she has participated in numerous streams and recorded a number of quality mixes for podcasts and radio shows, for example for Scottish labels Animal Farm and Hilltown Disco. She has also become a part of the Sisu roster and secured two radio residencies (the already mentioned EH-FM residency as CiRCLE, and Fnoob Techno Radio residency as ReView). In 2021, she delved into the world of music production. Exactly one year after his 2020 release entitled Dunklewissenschaft, DVS NME returns with a collection of new tracks that were produced between late 2020 and early 2021. This 25-track album is another obvious thematic tribute, only this time he chose to pay homage to the writing of the socialist revolutionary Karl Marx. Every song title is a nod to the German philosopher's economic and political theory. Even the album cover borrows directly from Marx, re-adapting the original cover of the 1848 pamphlet entitled 'The Communist Manifesto'.

This album, as with the last, relies heavily on the sounds of classic Electro machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, SH-2, System 100, Juno 60, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, as well as some contemporary additions to his studio like Hydrasynth, System 8, Novation Peak, Minilogue, SE-02, and Microkorg.

DVS NME is the man behind the weekly radio show/daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' and has been a dedicated contributor for the Electro community for the last 11 years. He shares his love of Electro music by posting Electro-affiliated news, art, mixes, albums, memes, concerts, tracks, gear, and more. This album is available for $15 USD.

Throughout the pandemic Hybrid has continued to flourish as a global hub for like-minded artists to connect and collaborate. There are no strict music laws here except that it has to be great and produced with love. Hybrid is about bringing people together to explore and create new approaches and fusions with electronic music. To spread the love further we are donating the proceeds of this compilation to Macmillan Cancer Research by working in partnership with Touched Music who have been a huge inspiration to us for all the good work they do and the amazing music they release!
