Sortant tout droit des caves suisses romandes, Charlotte aux Fretz est un duo explosif étroitement lié par un amour inconditionnel de la teuf et de la musique.

Membres du collectif lausannois La Sacrée Déter, les deux tourtereaux sont nichés dans la culture clubbing comme dans les forêts enchantées les plus hostiles. Toujours les derniers partis, iels sont actifs sur le champ de bataille comme en radio avec leur projet Vetica Zone et deux émissions radios sur Radio 40 et Ola Radio.

Entre bulldozer et douceurs gustatives, leurs sets rappellent une époque que l’on aurait bien voulu connaître. Un doux mélange de bass music, trance et rave 90s pour détartrer n’importe quel genou un peu trop rouillé par l'hiver. Une chose est sûre, il est bien trop tôt pour que la fête s’arrête.

Following on from his recent debut LP, Baytee Baytak's Shadows of Beyrouth - despite its name - explores a more colourful and emotive side of his music, using extended journeys through wildly different soundscapes to bring softer, more melodic tones into play.

Stepping in the dojo for the fifth one is @somerandomer aka Game Sense, devoted soundbwoy since immemorial times, and one of the label’s main associates and sonic supervisors. 

His help on the first EP published by Tiar has been invaluable, contributing with additional production, mixing and the usual artist spanking for optimal results. He also resculpted ASPHALT001’s main themed track Ambient Occlusion with his well sharpened chisels, bending ambient and amen breaks into a grimey-techno or technoey-grime smart bomb ready to destroy dancefloors. And by judging some of the videos and mixes sent to us, destroyed dancefloors it did.

His skills as a sound craftsman are definitely no coincidence, his is a well honed skill as he proves once again in this eclectic mix, in which he throws against each other an uncountable quantity of tracks and different genres with great result. Dubstep, ghetto-tech, drill, grime, deconstructed club, acid, unreleased Asphalt dubs, Jamaican patois vocals à la jungle, Birmingham infused industrial soundscapes, a splurge of random bass excursions… 

This sonic adventure, just as the artist, manages to always maintain the coherence and a forward thinking approach whilst distilling the essence of the UK and the hardcore continuum into a green and amorphous liquid, bottled in an amorphous can of Monster, but served with the steady and accurate ceremony of a perfect matcha tea ritual, performed deep in the mystic graveyard of Mount Kōyasan. 

But enough talking, and let’s just all enjoy deejaying elevated to an art form, which is what you will find in this mix, the mix of Game sense, or should we say Game Sensei.

Asphalt Podcast 005 - Game Sense

Our next VA pulls threads from Manchester, Lyon, New York, and Bristol; a cross-continental snapshot of the sounds shaping our world right now.

It opens in the shadows, with Steel Traxx and Product Toss delivering slow, murky cuts that set the foundation: heavy, cracked, and full of tension.

Things begin to shift as Manami, Maelita, and Mattik push into bass-driven territory. Low ends are refracted through their own lenses, building pressure and colour as the record unfolds.


The tone lifts as Sempra delivers UK-funky flair, all bright percussion and magical flute runs cutting through the weight. From there, disctr4k brings bumpy NY-garage-flavoured house, full of swing and cheeky momentum, before Direct Function closes the journey with warm, dub-soaked atmospheres that linger long after the final note.

A full-spectrum Skiptrace release — built from community, curiosity, and shared movement.

All proceeds from the release will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians.
