Bijoux hot-spot, hand-made what-nots,
Kicking heels in a down-town gift shop.
Sheltered from September's chill.
Caffeine shot. I've got time to kill,
To ruminate over bitter pills and such
Circumstance that means I clutch
To pops and twangs, a melancholy brood,
The laboured fruits of a lovelorn attitude.
Finding words to fill the space
Vacated by you, no hint, no trace
Of anything that went before.
So All I have are complex metaphors,
Clumsily spun, a hackneyed refrain:
What we had was art wrapped in cellophane.
