Forte de deux productions, de collaborations et d’expériences scéniques nombreuses et variées, R;Zatz revient en force en cette fin d’année avec son nouveau projet, « Cruel Summer ». Après « Will we cross the line ? » (2008) et « Vagina Rush » (2010), le projet d’un nouvel album mûrit donc dans les esprits de Takeshi (Guitare), Marilou (chant / basse), Mathieu (batterie) et Céline (claviers / choeurs).

Sur «Cruel Summer», peu d’invités, mais 4 musiciens en accord parfait. Loin de la froideur de «Will we cross the line ?», ce nouvel album est définitivement plus mélodique, flirtant avec une certaine simplicité qui sublime chaque intervention de ses protagonistes. Si les influences trip-hop, indie sont indéniables, une certaine sérénité se dégage . Il fait chaud cette fois. Pj Harvey, Shannon Wright ou les guitares rétro de The Notwist auraient elles eu raison du groupe ?

Il suffit de poser l’oreille sur le titre éponyme, qui ouvre l’album pour appréhender les contours du nouveau chemin tracé par la formation. On imagine la beauté charnelle d’un paysage aux couleurs pastel (Cruel Summer, Dark Brown Eyes). L’émotion est palpable.
Les riffs de guitares, lancinants, relèvent parfaitement la voix de Marilou, sensible, fragile (Stormy). Les nappes synthétiques, les xylophones en demie-teinte, les textures électroniques réapparaissent comme autant de clichés usés par un soleil brûlant. Puis la pâleur de ce matin estival laisse place au noir, au rouge sang (Flower in the Heaven), la résignation, la nostalgie s’estompent face à la détermination, la colère (U Got Me, Take a Look in the Mirror...).
La voix de Marilou devient puissante, prégnante, comme possédée (Ordinary Chronicle).

R;Zatz a des choses à dire, des comptes à régler. Cet album en est le manifeste. Au fil de cette histoire épique, la proie devient prédatrice. La batterie, tantôt claire et lointaine prend toute sa place, le beat devient lourd. La basse que l’on connaissait ronde et omnisciente devient entremetteuse des interventions de notre chanteuse.
La guitare, les claviers se font evanescents. Black Sifichi s’invite sur «Dark Brown Eyes» (morceau également disponible sur FX100), devenant ainsi l’icône fantasmée de cet été cruel. «Cycles stream», (invitant Takeshi au chant) nous emporte au coeur de l’entité R;Zatz, comme pour mieux en comprendre l’essence, rappelant avec justesse l’univers décalé de Leïla, où l’excellent Juniper de Filastine y La Bamba.

Très homogène, cet album est donc un subtil dosage des individualités du collectif. Aussi tendue qu’inattendue, R;zatz sera prête à défendre cette nouvelle oeuvre sur scène pour une tournée en mars/avril 2012.

From "Underground Wobble"

In 2005, the album Wave Digger paves the way for two years of tour in France and worldwide, multiplying encounters and collaborations (Wangtone with Wang Lei, Zentone with Zenzile, Re-Processed remixed by their mates) and diffusing their tribal electro-dub, blending heavy breaked bassline and nervous scratches. They come back in 2007 with "Underground Wobbles" : their fourth opus seems more calm, far from Jungle, Hip Hop, Electronica or Dub experimentations, typical of Wave Digger. Entering more downtempos spheres, machines and programmation left space for instruments. Narrative and often complex compositions absorb the listener in a psychedelic and misty trip (Understellar, Round Trip...), highly-seasoned here and there by nervous and fickle tracks (Freakency, Ask The Dust, Speed 110).

As far as harmonies and melodies are concerned, they evolved too, taking High Tone to a sound more accomplished than ever, recognizable anywhere, possessed by teeming influences... To cut a long story short, with his so personnal style, High Tone mixes with a disconcerting talent electronic musics, ethnic samples and surgical scratches. Underground Wobble assert itself as the cornerstone of the works, in constant evolution, of a group tirelessly guided by clearing up new horizons, by the opening of new ways, with as line of sight the willing to never paraphrase oneself. That state of mind is the privilege of the great and the good.

Led Piperz has been around on the french electronic and dub scenes for about a decade, Being a Vj for french live act High Tone as well as a sharp jungle and dnb dj since the early 2k's naturally led him to production.Born from dub influences and a wide array of bass music subgenres such as dubstep, grime , bassline , dnb and break , his music can be alternately celebrating the original dubwise vibe or or the colder and deeper textures of dubstep and techno.
Sharing stages for the past three years around France and Europe with the likes of Scorn, Joker, Amon Tobin, Boxcutter, Far Too Loud, Si Begg, Disrupt, Bong-Ra, Filastine, High Rankin, High Tone, Tambour battant, Niveau Zero or Dälek , his wild and looked after live sets combine heavy sound dubbing with uplifting energy.
After a couple of promising releases on Airflex Labs, including a first well noticed 12" remixed by Boxcutter, a few one shot releases on Jarring Effects and another year of touring with High Tone he's also been participating to the DUB INVADERS project and soud system tour with the high tone crew.
