With a deliberately liquorice all-sorts assortment of tracks, Lee Feather and The Night Movers delivers a brand of music that listens simply to what it loves and not to the boundaries of genre. The scaffold of their debut album is the lyrical content, a spiny backbone in a fluid body of work that delivers tongue-in-cheek, dark and gripping observations on modern life. The debut single, No Refunds (At The Pleasure Dome) sits somewhere in the overflowing (sigh!) post-punk reservoir with nods to (you-guessed-it) Fat White’s and Baxter Dury. Those sounds are quickly forgotten by the time you get to the dissonant, choral, somewhat Godly, ‘Calvary’, or the indie jangler ‘Motorola’.
