Funkiness everywhere! New stuff, old stuff, bass, and some cracking vocals from Hannah Williams and The Affirmations. Breakestra kick things off with some dope funkiness and heavy bassy vocals. We have some old school rap from OGs Roxanne Shante and Eric B and Rakim. Then we have what was a bloody messy mix but I just about pulled it off going from some bassy/piano ghetto funk from the Basement Freaks into an all-time funk classic: I believe in Miracles by the Jackson Sisters. Then, back into some 110BPM Goodness with 2 crackers from The Man.... Featurecast....

Starting with one of the best covers of all time: "Dazed and confused". Hannah Williams and the Affirmations give it all in a sophisticated and raw version of the legendary rock tune by Led Zeppelin... What a way to kick off FUNK CHOPS 2!!! We then move through the gears with some hip and dancey Funk and Soul. Towards the end we go a bit more modern with THE ALLERGIES and move into some Funky, Dready, Bass with two of my favourite modern producers BASEMENT FREAKS and FEATURECAST.

Funk Chops 2 : Hannah Williams is the Boss

Starting on a jamaican/punky note, we have The Slits with their amazing punk/ska/reggae/dub cover of my favourite song of all time; "I heard it through the grapevine". You will be grooving along within 17 seconds, I guarantee. From there we take a very different direction; 5 piano groove laden tunes, both modern and old. The section of this mix was inspired by one of the greatest piano grooves of all time; "Wade in the water" by Ramsey Lewis. It's a traditional gospel song that Ramsey beefed up with some awesome left hand playing. In the groovy/jazzy part of this mix we also have The Hi-Fly Orchestra lending us piano/bongos/horns. Hi-Fly have very modern but funky, groovy, warm and very danceable songs: You should check them out. The mix then starts to ramp up with some funky wobbly bass with "Full Tilt Boogie" in the middle, we even get into some funky/jamaican drum and bass! We finish with some classic funk/soul before ending with some bassy dancefloor happiness :)
