I wrote this song a little over a year ago.  I was in a good place in my life and I just really felt happy how things were moving along.  I had plenty going on and plenty to look forward to.  I wished that things would just stay that way.  That’s when I thought I should really put this feeling into a song.  I am more used to writing dark, sad and melancholic songs but this moment was something special.  That moment and that feeling is captured in ‘Right Here’.

In this song I tell a story about bullying.

My Hair

I was the tallest and the most quiet girl in the school yard.  I found it hard to put words together.  I felt I had no voice outside of home.

I was forever trying to imitate the sound and emotion of big female vocalists such as Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Kate Bush, etc until my throat was hurting.  At 16 I picked up an old Spanish guitar from the loft, learnt the basics and wrote my first song within weeks.  I was lucky to meet a great guitarist who became my guitar teacher.  Singing lessons helped me adopt the right technique, fix my throat and extend my vocal range.

I am still quiet but feel that I have found my voice through music.  I write, produce and perform electronic music.  I am passionate about developing my vocals further and I see vocals as my primary instrument.  I want my voice heard, recognised and the vocals to sound natural.
