An out-of-place artifact (OOPA or OOPart) is an artifact of historical, archaeological, or paleontological interest found in an unusual context, which challenges conventional historical chronology by its presence in that context. Such artifacts may appear too advanced for the technology known to have existed at the time, or may suggest human presence at a time before humans are known to have existed and are often topics of interest in fringe science such as cryptozoology.

OOPSY (Out-Of-Place Sounds' Yard) is a garden for ear ticking, soul tingling, slippery sounds to blossom. Hybrid, eclectic and entropic soundscapes burgeon, in no perceptible order, as nature keeps its mysteries to itself.

For its first instalment, OOPSY (Out-Of-Place Sounds' Yard) has the pleasure to warmly welcome Argentinian multi-disciplinary artist Joa Joys. With a unique way of shaping colorful and moving sonic worlds, he gifts us with a 30min live-set recording revolving around two tracks of his latest album "Reposo". Riding like a champion between the titles "Yo venía pisteando como un campeón" and "Reposo", he takes us on an intense yet soothing journey.
For the second part, I made an eclectic selection of hazy sounds, juggling between summer nostalgia, warm bittersweetness, swarming ecosystems and light head-nodding rhythms.

OOPSY w/ Le Frit (17/09/2024)

Buenos Aires based multimedia artist Vic Bang paints vivid worlds with her music, where lively micro rhythms playfully interact in a colorful environment. She blessed us with a beautiful live recording of hers, where each sound blooms, sparkles, has a life and a trajectory of its own, moving freely through space and time in a lighthearted yet intricate way. Chirps, bleeps, zaps, squeaks &ampamp; dings gravitate around each other forming a mysterious choreography for the ears.
Le Frit takes over for the second half of the hour for a spontaneous &ampamp; bittersweet mix of microscopic folk, shimmering ambient and fizzling melodies. Including some recent musical discoveries &ampamp; releases, music by friends &ampamp; allover oopsyness.


OOPSY w/ Vic Bang & Le Frit (10/12/24)

Around 1964, french composer and sound researcher Luc Ferrari coined the term "Musique Anecdotique" to describe his use of recognizable sounds in his music, as opposed to the Musique Concrete's search for "pure" sound abstraction. Sounds that tell a story, that depict a landscape, whose source most can pinpoint or try to... OK NERD.

But what if Luc Ferrari was a terminally online kid who's also NOT BORING ?

That's where Déluge steps in. The Paris based sound mangler, half of live-coding duo FRONSSONS ʕ •`ᴥ•´ʔ and part of Cookie Collective gifts us with a dizzying study on what could/should/would be "La Musique Anecdotique d'Internet".
Sitting right at the intersection between a serious para-scientific essay on our modern media consumption habits and pure shitposting, this episode of OOPSY takes us on a wild ride where french memes, gabber, experimental gems, trap vocals, cursed mash-ups, quirky sounds and generational memories of the web collide.
Somehow evoking a TikTok doomscrolling experience on speed, his set is full of masterful jester moves and more-than-unexpected curves.
