Various Artists - Internal Connections Vol 1 [LB013] (Vinyl Only)

We're happy to welcome Dragosh to the label for Leftback 015.

The four tracker features three Dragosh originals and a remix from Michael Lardy and Dudley Strangeways. The second release from the Romanian producer this year, it shows his flying form and commitment to continue doing what he loves.

The EP opens with ‘Josum’. With a stripped, crunching groove, a clipping synth bass soon joins in. Filled with small noises, ‘Josum’ invades your headspace and pushes your head down, your body up. A minimal, techy affair, it will not let you rest with its revolving bass and invasive, unsteady beat. The remix reels in the strangeness a bit while maintaining the minimal, never-standing-still feel to the original. Computer bleeps join the tunnelling groove, delivering a remix that it is more dance friendly but remains in the realm of heady weirdness.

Next up is ‘Perfect Timing’, the title track. Beginning with a cleaner cut beat than ‘Josum’, ‘Perfect Timing’ still maintains the feel of the EP with a rattling percussive beat before hitting you with a deep, thunderous bass. With haunting synths far in the background, the track keeps you guessing as to what is coming next. ‘Bad Idea’ closes out the EP in a decidedly more subdued fashion. Still in keeping with the deep, heady feel of the other track, it does so in a more low-key and laid back fashion. With a retro drum-machine led rhythm and a tractor beam for a bass, ‘Bad Idea’ is perfect for a darkened, end-of-the-night session.

The ‘Leo’s Landed’ EP - the 17th release in Lefback’s burgeoning discography - kicks off with ‘Flipside Flute’, a gloriously wonky and unusual cut that’s sure to appeal to DJs reading for something different from their bag. The title track is another that showcases the producer’s knack for unconventional wares. A relentless, grinding, atmospheric track full of weighty bass kicks and off-kilter piano lines, it’s a stifling, unconventional track that will sound at its best when the night is at its strangest point. 

The B side gets underway thanks to the cowbell heavy strands of ‘Perc’. Dramatic, eerie and sparse, it’s another rugged cut on display, with its shuffling beats and many relentless emphasis meaning it’s sure to make an impression in any set it finds a home in. It’s then left to the swagger of ‘Real Talk’ to conclude the release. A brisk, confident-sounding, baseline-led jam featuring a sporadic female vocal and some brilliant 8-bit sounds, it’s unlike anything else on show here, but it too is designed to create a bit of a stir. By the time this one goes deep, chances are you’ll be reeled in hook, line and sinker. Genuinely brilliant and out there stuff, Dudley Strangeways latest is every bit as fantastically odd as Pearson’s alias. Top work all around.

We're excited to share with you our first release on "Leftback Intercities". The sub-label has been created to focus on exactly the same vibe as the main but allowing us to have more output to work with our regular roster of artists and also to welcome new and upcoming talent to the Leftback family. 

The release consists of three original tracks from label head Dudley Strangeways and newcomer to the family Mortalyf, this being his first but definitely not last release with us. A range of tracks for different times of the night or day in true LB fashion coming complete with a stellar remix from our own Annie Errez, this being her first production outing on the label since 2018 but it was for sure worth the wait! 

Picking up early support from the usual heads. 

Moving forward both our vinyl and digital releases will be available for an exclusive period of time on the labels Bandcamp page before being on sale in all other stores.

Leftcast 004- Jay Tripwire [Witching Hour]

We're always happy to welcome new talent to the label and Cosmic Clap is the first of a string of new producers set to appear on "Intercities" over the next six months. Cosmic Clap brings three deep and minimal originals to LBIC002 making this an excellent addition to the Intercities portfolio and a super well-rounded EP with tracks for most occasions.

The package is completed with two heavy remixes. The first is from our resident  Bunny under his Cold Water Cuts (CWC) alias providing a low slung bass-heavy groove, reminiscent of Bunny's DJing style and a sound that's commonly heard on the Birmingham afters scene at parties such as "Social Underground" and "Penda".


Completing the remixes is a relative newcomer to the scene, Zenk. In a short time, Zenk has supplied some real stand out tracks with synth-driven bubbling lead lines over punchy beats gaining him well-deserved support from the likes of Raresh.

The fourth installment from our Intercities offshoot sees a full EP from regular Dudley Strangeways, providing three originals comprising from wonky main time rollers to breakbeat starters. The EP comes with two hefty remixes from rising star Mortalyf who's really coming into his own and developing his trademark sound and London-based Trixie, who's been somewhat of a regular at Leftback events, but this being her first outing on the label. Both remixes complement the originals well giving a different angle to the already varied EP!
