Leftroom Limited is back with another of its essential club ready offerings, this time from one of house music’s most essential talents, Alinka, feat. Ahmad with a standout remix from label boss Matt Tolfrey.

Alinka, who has recently delved into the world of music full time and is now Berlin based, is a contemporary Chicago tastemaker who brings wonderful weirdness to her grooves on The Classic Music Company, Jackathon Jams, Crosstown Rebels, Leftroom and more. She imbues her music with the spirit of greats like Honey Dijon, Derrick Carter and Gemini and is a regular at Panorama Bar and Circoloco, where she has a power on the decks that sets her apart from the masses. She is a life long deep digger and former Smart Bar resident who exudes house music class on every level. Here she produces her first collaboration with Berlin based international vocalist Ahmad Larnes of electronic R&B duo Schwarz Dont Crack.

Rabbit Hole is a timeless house track with deep, mesmerising drums and a classic vocal line that brims with real feelings. A melodic bass line moves things along while raw claps and sci-fi sounds all enrich the groove. As well as a stripped back dub, Matt Tolfrey steps up to remix and does so with a sense of late night afterparty urgency - hits drums and tight and punchy, the vocal is more rapturous and the whole thing is brilliantly compelling and warm. He also offers an instrumental version for more heads down dancing.

We’re welcoming Swiss DJ and producer, Andrea Oliva to the Nothing Else Matters roster this month with his debut single; ‘Dancing, No Sleep’ which also features a remix from label head honcho; Danny Howard. Andrea is one of the busiest DJs in the industry with close ties to ANTS Ibiza, Elrow and Music On as well as some of the world’s best festivals. Over the last decade, he has released music on some of the biggest labels in Dance including EP’s on Relief, Saved Records, elrow, Truesoul and Hot Creations to name but a few. ‘Dancing, No Sleep’ is a hard-hitting club cut, building through various filters, synths and playful loops with a hypnotic vocal throughout and shuffling hi-hats, bouncing b-line and accompanying chunky, heavy house drums. Danny Howard’s remix offers a deeper, more chilled out, take on the original with intricate percussive effects alongside the mesmeric vox and enticing synth flutters and indulgent grooves throughout. Once again this is another powerful Nothing Else Matters release that cannot fail to make a mark.

We remain switched on for the rest of the EP: ‘They Took The Funk’ sees the Ondule co-boss stripping things right back to the bare bassline groove essence before ‘So Good So Fresh’ ends with another essential life mantra. A little more upbeat and forthright with more of a punch than a jack, the vocal elements take on a rhythmic quality as they help drive us into a funk section and deep chord-washed pay off that both come out of nowhere…
Turn it on, keep it on; with Joss Moog and Robsoul, it’s impossible to switch off.

HSM PREMIERE | Deeleegenz - Empty Streets [Heat Up Music]

Colombian duo DJ Fronter & Julian Collazos join forces for the ‘Tic Tac EP’, bringing three bumping house tracks to Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this March.

Leading the release is DJ Fronter’s ‘Tic Tac’, a skippy synth-led number which bubbles through wonky build-ups over squeaking low end. Following is the breaks influenced ‘Too Much’, which sees the pair looping warm basslines under a broken beat and low, soulful vocals.

‘Touch It’ utilises jagged percussion, stabby synthesis and filtered vocals for a slow-burning late-night jam, unwinding itself through a tension relieving breakdown.

Following releases on Hot Creations, Sola, and South Of Saturn, DJ Fronter links up with Julian Collazos of Stereo Productions, Material, as well as his own Duff Music label for their debut appearance on Hottrax. Marking their first-ever collaboration, the pair have delivered a diverse set of party starters for Jamie Jones’ celebrated imprint.

Leftroom Records opened its doors in August of 2005 in Nottingham, England. The label is the creation of Matt Tolfrey (Owner). Musically, it was one of the first labels of its kind in the UK, showcasing the off centre sound of house, disco and techno.

Distributed now by Above Board, the first release surfaced for the label on the 5th of December 2005 and was entitled ‘The Extended Family EP’ encapsulating the spirit of Leftroom, a place where a core set of artists could grow and experiment with their sound. The Leftroom family consists of a few key artists including Laura Jones, Huxley, Gavin Herlihy, Sam Russo and Matt himself.

April 2006 saw the launch of Leftroom's sublabel, Leftroom Limited. Musically Leftroom Limited brings a new dimension to Leftroom as a whole, concentrating on anything that wobbles from straight up house, to techno and even the uplifting. The first ep for the sublabel was Tolfrey & Sylvester presents: Popeye-Spinach Disko, a slow brewing, techy, disco record, which came out the end of May 06 with many plaudits. 

With Matt being label owner he proved his A&R capabilities are pin-point in securing one of 2007’s biggest tracks, Ito & Star’s ‘Suduko Kid’ and one of 2008’s biggest crossover tracks, Rocha and Lewinger’s ‘Down Seq’. The summer of 2011 brought you Laura Jones's 'Love In Me' which was a global phenomenon, and Maceo Plex's remix of the same track was Leftroom's first no 1 overall seller on Beatport. In 2012 Kate Simko's 'Go On Then' featuring Jem Cooke stole all headlines, and the same year brought you Matt's debut artist album 'Word Of Mouth.' 

With new albums and mix compilations not to far away, and a whole host of new releases, Leftroom is sure to carry on where it left off which is delivering high quality, diverse dance music.
