Leftroom Ltd return this September with the ‘Love On Another’ EP from the hotly tipped
British production duo Waifs & Strays, backed with a remix from Huxley & Matt Tolfrey.

Breaking through in 2011 with a string of releases on Hot Creations, Futureboogie and Get Physical,Waifs & Strays have embraced both the current rising hybrid-house sound and their preceding influence of early 90’s house and disco music to create effortlessly eclectic and undeniably captivating tracks.

Title track ‘Love On Another’ opens the EP, instantly cutting through as peak-time house material with crunchy claps and a hooky organ line. Simplicity in structuring is the key here, but it’s the deft touches that subtly entice the listener with a combination of minute delays and dexterous background twitches adding intense depth and movement. While the soulful vocal lines and bright piano chords further fuel its retro house vibe.

Next up ‘For A While’ takes on a stripped back, emotive form with raw swung snare rolls, shuffling hats and white noise sweeps, while a soft synthesized melody builds an eerie atmosphere. The duo implant their signature weighty bass-line and dark synth chords on the composition, while their clever use of call and response vocals radiates charm and precision in their approach to production.

To close the release Huxley & Matt Tolfrey deliver their rework of ‘For A While’, applying a darkroom dub-house notion. The track relies on tonal hits, crisp beats and off kilter kicks as its driving force, creating a stuttering punchy groove. Delicate filter modulations and expansive delays on the vocals produce an evolving dynamism that meanders around the warbling synth line running throughout. The result is understated and classy as you’d expect from these two highly respected artists.

Leftroom Records opened its doors in August of 2005 in Nottingham, England. The label is the creation of Matt Tolfrey (Owner). Musically, it was one of the first labels of its kind in the UK, showcasing the off centre sound of house, disco and techno.

Distributed now by Above Board, the first release surfaced for the label on the 5th of December 2005 and was entitled ‘The Extended Family EP’ encapsulating the spirit of Leftroom, a place where a core set of artists could grow and experiment with their sound. The Leftroom family consists of a few key artists including Laura Jones, Huxley, Gavin Herlihy, Sam Russo and Matt himself.

April 2006 saw the launch of Leftroom's sublabel, Leftroom Limited. Musically Leftroom Limited brings a new dimension to Leftroom as a whole, concentrating on anything that wobbles from straight up house, to techno and even the uplifting. The first ep for the sublabel was Tolfrey & Sylvester presents: Popeye-Spinach Disko, a slow brewing, techy, disco record, which came out the end of May 06 with many plaudits. 

With Matt being label owner he proved his A&R capabilities are pin-point in securing one of 2007’s biggest tracks, Ito & Star’s ‘Suduko Kid’ and one of 2008’s biggest crossover tracks, Rocha and Lewinger’s ‘Down Seq’. The summer of 2011 brought you Laura Jones's 'Love In Me' which was a global phenomenon, and Maceo Plex's remix of the same track was Leftroom's first no 1 overall seller on Beatport. In 2012 Kate Simko's 'Go On Then' featuring Jem Cooke stole all headlines, and the same year brought you Matt's debut artist album 'Word Of Mouth.' 

With new albums and mix compilations not to far away, and a whole host of new releases, Leftroom is sure to carry on where it left off which is delivering high quality, diverse dance music.
