Devotion

There is a fine line between day and night that seems visible on Fama87’s (@fama-87) debut cassette on Gost Zvuk, aptly named День, ночь (Day, Night). There is no difference between “daytime” and “nighttime” tracks. They are always somewhere in between. Fama87 is no stranger to the label family. He has frequently played at our parties, has collaborated with Flaty and Nocow as part of Wax Paper Cup and has done a few releases with Flaty alone (as Underwraps and FFAA). Both of them featured as guests on this tape. rforest seems like a dialogue between Flaty and Fama87, with a melancholic melody and a persistent beat. Nocow’s gentle voice enriches both Останься со Мной (Stay with Me) and Проснуться на Восходе (Awaken at Dawn).

Despite Fama87’s background in the world of instrumental hip-hop, it’s definitely not a beat tape. He just seamlessly glides back and forth between genres in a continuous stream. On the album you can feel the echoes of ambient, electro, house, hip-hop, R&B, IDM, field recordings and old film music. The hidden plot of the album reveals itself after a few listens. It’s all about the eternal cycle of time: day follows night and night follows day, and so on and so forth.

"When You See Me, Run" is the second EP by Polish industrial darkwave duo, World, Interrupted. The release sees the band continue their journey of mixing darkwave aesthetics and emotions with modern EBM and industrial sounds, as well as the duo's rock, metal and techno origins.

The lyrics on the album are a deep dive into personal experiences mixed with self-reflection. Two of the songs have Polish lyrics, as the band tries to show their cultural heritage.

Although a relative newcomer to the DJ game, JASSS has really managed to shake up the dance floor in the last couple of years ( not least with her residency at Berghain's Säule). Releases on Anunnaki Cartel, Mannequin and iDEAL Recordings have showcased her rugged and gritty approach to EBM, industrial, acid and techno. Between those releases she has covered experimental sound art, soundscapes and more club focusses beats, all while playing to her own rules and fighting her own internal battles.

On her Dekmantel podcast the Spaniard goes direct to the club with visceral drums and stark synths. It’s a mix that hurries you along for the ride, jostling you with breakbeats and rave stabs then rewriting your brain with prickly techno before allowing you a moment to breath in some more elastic and rubbery house music. It’s always full flavour, high impact stuff that is brilliantly compelling and strobe lit throughout, whether stepping at half time or falling over itself in a race to the end.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Evitceles. Following acclaimed releases for electronic powerhouses as Opal Tapes, Yerevan Tapes, Seagrave or Sofia-based Amek Collective among others, Bulgarian producer Etien Slavchev presents Нелюбов (Sound + Matter). Roughly translating in English as 'Nonloveʼ itʼs exactly what youʼll get from the record. Нелюбов is mostly occupying the lower ends of both the frequency and the emotional specters of Evitcelesʼ music. 

Today we present the video for “Weak Eyes”, one of our favorite tracks on the album and a slow burning, rhythmic work of haunting atmospheres with a trip-hop vibe. The whole album is an incredible work of genre bending tracks and shows the diverse range of Evitceles.

Cold wave, minimal techno, electro abstract, avant- hard, hardcore techno, break core, IDM, EBM, Death Rock, punk Rock, New Wave,Dark Wave, Ambient, MiamiBootyBase, SpeedBase, Dub, RagaMuffin, Dubstep, Industrial, Noise, Experimental, world beat...did I forget anything?  Neophyte, for sure, and these are all my newly found treasures, that I have dug up from around the world.  One day I will produce some tracks again, until then, I will spend every minute listening to all the newly found gems!
