Not so long ago, there was war . Nuclear weapons, from country arsenals to terrorist gadgets, were deployed. This left behind large areas of deadly radiation, most of which still lingers today . Small pockets of manageable radiation allowed the survivors to gather, setting up conclaves of humanity .There were still resources outside of these Null Zones that were useful, and commodities that needed to be traded between communities. Someone needed to go into danger so everyone else could survive. This is where Runners come in

CORE Worlds - Runners Playtest 2-2

Tonight was our session 0 for our new Runner campaign.  Runners was designed by Jesse Pyne and uses the CORE RPG System, created by Tod Foley.  Runners is set in the near-ish future after the onset of nuclear war.  There are still pockets of humanity that have managed to survive and even thrive in this new world.  Their lives are not without danger, from lingering radiation, mutated animal and people, bandits and simple lack of resources.  That's where Runners come in.  They are the brave (some may say foolish) few that risk everything in traveling the Burnt.

The Marla from Tzaine agrees to try and help Brock and he's taken into a treatment area.  Zuchy goes with, to keep an eye on things.  Zuchy does some massage and reiki work on Brock and he responds, spiking all the monitors.  Meanwhile Smokey and Huxley go to grab something to eat in the cafeteria.

As Smokey and Huxley enter the cafeteria there's a huge commotion.  Mara is is being restrained and there's a body on the floor.  She breaks free and pummels the figure on the floor.  Smokey attempts to help the security guards and gets a broken nose for his trouble.  Mara is tazed and sedated.

Eventually Zuchy comes to the cafeteria and the guys swap info.  When they make their way back to where the suits are, there's a blinking red light coming from their suits.  It's a distress signal from from the suit that Smokey stole and gave to Marla.

Rowena Hardgrove was a librarian and investigator, successful leader of a team dedicated to defending mankind from the Horror of the mythos, until her world was torn apart.

She was the only survivor of a case gone bad, wracked with guilt and a desire for revenge. Part of her wanted to quit, put the horrors behind her and life a quiet peaceful life.

While another part of her burned for vengeance, as the creatures who killed her friends, a collection of entities called themselves the Night Parade, we're still out there.

She quit her job, cut herself off from friends and family, and vanished.

However, she is one of the only people the investigators know of who might be able to save Harper Twilight, and break him free of the dark bargain he forged with Eihort

Can the investigators find her in time to save the doomed blues singer?
