Come spring in 2018 and Leiah gave news that the band was back in the studio. The first release in 16 years will happen on the 27th of July 2018 as the song 'Surrender' gets released on digital platforms. The song was recorded at studio Space lounge, mixed in studio Jesus lo-Tech and mastrered by legendary Noel Summmerville. 

'Surrender' is a song that comes in natural sonic continuity, picking up where the last album 'Sound and Diversity' (2002, Startracks) ended. It’s a song which blends 90's indie rock with post hardcore-punk.

The band is revolving around the local talents of Swedish high school friends. Leiah released a string of indie albums in the early 2000s and did many European tours playing shows with bands such as; At the Drive-In, Grade, The Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music. As their physical releases have become hard to come by a handful of posthumous digital releases have been put out on digital outlets.

Surrender

Leiah - 2nd (4:40) Second comeback single!
This spring Leiah gave news that the band is back together again recording new material. After the release of their first single Surrender (27th of July) and the positive reviews that followed, Leiah is now ready to move on. The new single ”2nd” is a sonic continuity, picking up where they paused 16 years ago. Musically the song can be described as a mix of Scandinavian indie rock from the late 90’s with a small dose of Nirvana riffage and topped with David Lehnberg’s trademark vocals. Production wise the band has drawn inspiration from classics such as Fleetwood Mac’s ”Rumours” and Black Flag’s ”Damaged” and they feel that their production is a statement.

Leiah from Sweden, once a household name on the European indie/hardcore/emo scene in the late 90's. Leiah’s frontman and primary songwriter David Lehnberg started recording and touring with the band before he even finished high school. Leiah was quickly acclaimed and appreciated for their intense live performances and persistent touring. The band shared scenes and festivals with genre defining bands such as The Get Up Kids and At The Drive In.
After the breakup (2004), songs like Red Star Pilot and Tiglo (part of top 100 EMO songs of all time list by 'Is this thing on?') have found new listeners and can now be heard on playlists that define the sound of the latter part of the 90s emo/indie rock scene.
During their most active years, Leiah released three LPs and a few singles on record labels such as Genet Records, Background Beat/Startracks and Howling Bull (Japan). After signing with record label Background Beat/Startracks the band started recording what would be their final album Sound and Diversity (2002), produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Refused, The Hives). After the tour cycle ended and the band had finished writing songs for a new album the inevitable break-up came (2004).
In 2018 unexpectedly new Leiah music appears and in 2019 they made their first shows in 16 years with a sold out performance at the Miss The Stars Fest in Berlin.
