The “Mouthful of Diamonds” beat from @Phantogram, “remixed” completely on my iPhone using the Moog Filtatron app. Done while taking a bath, about half an hour after purchasing the Filtatron.

I loaded the Phantogram track in from my iPhone's mp3 lib, then made several trial-and-error attempts on grabbing a loop from the intro. That is a tiny waveform display, for viewing a whole song! Eventually I grabbed a workable loop, but it was in an odd time signature - which, although not my initial intent, wound up sounding off-kilter in a cool way. Then slowed the beat down, added other effects, and slowly swept the filter by hand as the beat looped.

Passive Ring Mod Standard Wiring

Same passive ring mod circuit as before, but with the "program" and output jacks swapped. This means the output is being taken from the center taps of the transformers' secondary windings. The resulting sound is far smoother than the standard wiring scheme.

Curiously, this same swap of program and output jacks makes no difference on the old passive ring mod I built, using germanium diodes instead of the quad Schottky array being used in the new version.

I had both these songs in my head one day, and knew they had the same chord progression. Was thinking they were maybe even in the same key...check. And similar tempos too, so I decided to try to match them up.

Once I did that, I was listening and thinking, wow, that bass and that hi-hat, they both sound so alike. Come to find out, it was Fleetwood and McVie playing on Zevon's song!
