I wanted to go for a different mood here. Much more mysterious, dark, and thoughtful. After all, this is the plant that can change an entire planet's ecosystem and it stretches out for miles. Everything from monsters to pirates seems to want to find a way inside -- or worse. Capel doesn't get to enter often, unless the plant is in dangerous. The place scares her.
Made this pretty much entirely with the Korg M1 and Tal-u-no-LX, mostly the former.

Kickin' It Old School

Arrangement of True Kinda Love from Steven Universe: The Movie, composed by Rebecca Sugar, Estelle, Chance the Rapper, Macie Stewart, James Fauntleroy, aivi & surasshu, Julian "Zorsy" Sanchez. Arranged by me.

This arrange was me trying to sound like yogurtbox (coda and surasshu)'s Tree of Knowledge album. This album has a lot of meaning to me because it's what got me interested both in Ryu Umemoto's works (who is now my fav composer), making PC-98 music, as well as visual novel-style music in general.

I tried to track down/make the FM patches for all the instruments they sampled for the album, but some instruments were still out of my reach, so I just used whatever sounded best! I hope you like it!

True Kinda FM - Steven Universe: The Movie (KIng for Another Day)

Another HardSpeed song here! This is the battle theme for the Tsu'ghui, a mysterious race of killer clones. It seems like they're being controlled by someone.
The beginning of HardSpeed's narrative follows a squad of Tsu'ghui on a routine mission that turns out to be anything but. I wanted their battle theme to differ heavily from the normal battle theme.

This one has to do with more thoughtful, pensive moments for the characters -- specifically Capel, the main character. Capel barely even understands how people work, and yet she desperately wants to live among them. Every step forward is two steps back. Sometimes, she isn't even sure it's worth it to keep trying.

Mostly done using the Korg Wavestation. I started out trying to decipher the patterns one of the presets had, and ended up reproducing the sounds manually instead. From there, the rest of the song formed. :V

Steady Lights

This will be the first track on my upcoming album, HardSpeed. It serves as the opening text crawl more or less. It has a little more orchestral flair than most of the other HardSpeed music. Part of this is due to the main character of this album, Sydney, being a cello player. (Don't worry, Capel still appears.)
I've been working on something big-ish behind the scenes related to HardSpeed as a whole, and this song was definitely a good step in getting it started. For now, expect a new album out sometime this summer!
