Sure to have you nodding your head and singing along, "Urban Retro Vibe (All The Ladies-Part 1)" is a throwback medley comprised of various verses and hooks by some of Lei's favorite famous ladies of r&b/soul/pop genres, which include Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Janet Jackson, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Madonna, Faith Evans, SWV, Chaka Kahn, EnVogue, Aaliyah, and Whitney Houston.  And we're sure they're some of your favorite female artists too!

Lei says that she put this song together to give credit to these ladies as playing a major musical inspiration her life since she was a young girl coming into her own as a songstress, particularly the "Urban Retro Songstress" we know her as today.  Lei sings "Urban Retro Vibe (All The Ladies-Part 1)" behind the beat of "Black Nostaljack," classic hip-hop production originally performed by one of hip-hop's classic duos "Camp-Lo."  And "Black Nostaljack" is sampled from "Tripping Out" by the late great Curtis Mayfield! 

So you see, this is how Lei gets down with her musical style.  And you can tell her DJ background has trickled into the mix of this song as she is flowing and transitioning effortlessly with her lead and background vocals!  Not to mention, this is just some groovin-azz production all the way through!

#SALUTE to one of the #goats of my generation and also a major musical inspiration of mine: Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996).   In this song, I am singing over his classic song "Pain" which is also one of my fave songs by him.  I titled the song "Resilience (#PAC)" and it is on my mixtape "Urban Retro Life (Vol. 1)" which is a project that borrows and blends sounds and styles of hip-hop, r&b, and pop music, especially from the 90s and early 2000s. So far, the song has been getting good reviews. It was written by Lei and produced by independent producer Marty McLaren.

Lei's full mixtape "Urban Retro Life (Vol. 1)" borrows and blends sounds and styles of hip-hop, r&b, and pop music, especially from the 90s and early 2000s. It is written, vocally arranged, and co-produced by Lei and sets the tone for how she writes and vocally arranges in her own work. On this mixtape, Lei is singing over major and independent music industry beat production (and DJ worieL was behind the blending and transitions of some of the tracks). The major industry beat production that she uses are from songs: "Black Nostaljack" by Camp-Lo, "Long Kiss Goodnight" by The Notorious B.I.G., "New Slaves" by Kanye West, and "Pain" by Tupac. Lei Row is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter/recording artist/DJ from Pennsylvania who is becoming known more and more for her nostalgic sound and style in music. As a singer-songwriter, Lei has written and vocally produced in different genres from r&b/soul, to pop, to electro, to hip-hop, and her resume includes work with various artists, songwriters, and producers from different cities of the U.S. east coast and Europe.

As a DJ, Lei goes by another name: "DJ worieL." Since beginning her DJ journey, Lei has been mentored by some of the best DJs in the game and has played at various events in and around the city of Harrisburg, PA for various city-wide and private entertainment events. She was trained through the Scratch DJ Academy-NYC, which was founded by the late great Jam Master Jay of renowned hip-hop trio RUN DMC. Two of her most acclaimed DJ performances was playing at a party featuring legendary hip-hop artist "Slick Rick" (which was hosted by the African American Chamber of Commerce-Central PA Chapter) and being the DJ for the City of Harrisburg's 2015 New Years Eve Celebration.

Because it is an honor for her to give back through music, Lei is a singer-songwriter for the "Songs of Love Foundation,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing personalized songs for children and teens currently facing tough medical, physical or emotional challenges, free of charge (www.songsoflove.org). In 2012, Lei was a dancer in “Dancing With the Stars of Central Pennsylvania,” a philanthropic project hosted the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of The Alzheimer's Association and Central Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra.
