La Forge Musique thrilled to announce the release of it's resident Shonen Bat’s first album. Following his involvement in label compilations and a few brief incursions across the Channel for thier friends at Corrupt Data (see his EP “Shades of Disruption”) and GODDEZZ (see V/A “ON+ON+ON”), the 28-year-old producer from Reims eventually reaches the mark of the long-form, with flying colours indeed. In “Infinite Disorder”, he deftly conjugates techno influences, breakbeat, global club and electro with his distinctive rhythmic signature as well as outstanding futuristic aesthetic.
In twelve tracks, Shonen Bat demonstrates perfect mastery of sound design and narration in a fifty-minute opus with strains of solar punk, which resonates both on the dancefloor and your couch. An intertwinement of celestial voices, luxuriating pads and synthetic waterfalls with sharp beats and distorted bass precedes moments when the producer playfully stretches time with more ambient phases, before going for it again.
Among the top-flight tracks, you will find an ethereal anthem in “Artefacts”, speedy techno in “Western Nylon Fields”, and feisty breakbeats in “Automata”.
In this emotional roller coaster, the album constantly takes us back and forth between melancholy and euphory. Despite this duality symptomatic of our times, “Infinite Disorder” is undeniably a record of boundless optimism, at times bitter but always radiant. Take it as a kind of journal of a young raver who’s found his way through the philosophical values of a global rave culture, without borders, and humanistic.

PREMIERE | Shonen Bat - Sayonara [La Forge] 2021

On the Polish-Belarusian border there is a humanitarian crisis unfolding. For the last few months hundreds of refugees have come from the Middle East, South Asia, and northern and middle Africa to seek international protection, but Polish troops and Belarusian border patrol are chasing them from one side to the other, breaching the law and resulting in the deaths of several people. 

In response to this urgent situation, Polish collective Oramics have rallied together Polish and international artists including the likes of Octo Octa, Loraine James, Casiopepe, Avtomat and Liar for a compilation to raise money for Rescue Foundation, who have been helping the migrants on the frontline since day one, and help to facilitate easier access to a new life in an unknown country.

Oramics statement about the situation at the border continues: "Polish organizations supporting foreigners have been involved in aiding the people on the border from the very beginning of the current crisis. They were communicating with them over loudspeakers while the border troops were not allowing for any humanitarian or medical aid to reach the refugees, denying them even food or freshwater. On 3 September the Polish government decided to implement a state of emergency in the cross-border areas, which has not been done since 1981 when martial law was introduced in Poland. What it means in practice is a drastic clampdown on the aid organizations and their access to the cross-border areas as well as fewer journalists who could document the situation on-site. The people on the border have been left without any help from the outside. No one controls the actions of the authorities anymore."

PREMIERE: Liar - Immigrant Trax [Oramics]

There were glimmering colours and flickering lights which danced and bounced between the four walls of the grand old hall. Inside it revellers moved in a euphoric trance, engulfed by the saidas touch, a hypnotic force which bound them together and kept them moving in ignorant unison. It was a beautiful, magnificent thing - strangely fascinating to watch as each dancer moved simultaneously in time with the rumble and banging of drums as a myriad of colours exploded and flashed. 

Dj Willie Oboe is back and when I say that it will likely mean very little. However, if I were to tell you that it's a magical new moniker for one of the members of the infamous hardware inspired duo Frak you might be more excited. They are set to release a new EP on Lost Control, a somewhat more house focussed affair than their usual. However, it still carries that rough and ready, signature Frak sound.

Togethrs produces some sublime drum & bass sounds, and Minor Sine Project brings us vibey, acid breaks. Jordan Raymond supplies some atmospheric, laid back rhythms, followed by Nørus & DJ WHIPR SNIPR who drop a powerful chunk of bassline orientated material. Withheld brings the heat with an extended, melodic breakbeat excursion and lastly, Florian winds things down with a deep and blissful track that serves up luscious pads and ingenious rhythms. There was a thick fog which hung beside the tree in the middle of the desert, they watched it from afar. It was not safe to roam outside here, amidst the wilderness ,for there were wild creatures and beasts which might eat you alive given the chance. The sand was a dense hybrid yellow, some might call it gold but for him that was not the case. The car whizzed across the outback headed for a town miles away in the distance, the engine coughed and spluttered beneath the heat of the day. They were all under strain... 

City Bowl Wax Network is a label based in Cape Town, South Africa. The label hit us up with two EP's of exquisite quality and precision that we were wholeheartedly blown away by. Not something that we get to say terribly often. This one comes with a gold stamp, or should we say a hybrid yellow stamp of approval.
