Release Text:
Following the success of the first volume in 2019, Italo Funk curators, Eli Soul Clap and Lele Sacchi have since been hard at work compiling the much anticipated second volume. Italo Funk Vol. 2 is dedicated to the great, Claudio Coccoluto who we lost earlier this year. 

The continuation of the Italo Funk Story takes us on yet another trip through Italy,  From “Venaria”, a little village just outside of Turin where Stump Valley offer us a  blissful taste of the regions deep house flavors. To Puglia, where Rollover DJs present “Buonasera,” a slow building, bucolic jam. 

Rocco Universal’s “Somewhere Else” tips it’s hat to Detroit, but of course with a healthy touch of 80s Italo. DJ Rocca, sweeps us away to Reggio Emilia, and serenades us with his jazz flute on “Don’t Be Worried” only to join us again under his collaborative project with Capofortuna as Roccacapofortuna on the peak time bomb “Potage.” 

Capofortuna; the duo of DJ Rame & Funk Rimini, delivers festival bound heat, while Funk Rimini takes us on a vivacious visit to Rimini on the Adriatic Sea. Lele Sacchi & Brioski pick us up, and drop us in Milano for a taste of both the old, and nu school combined. 

To Claudio’s legacy, and the great artists of Italy.

Over these twenty years, he has completed a round-the-world trip DJing at some of the best clubs, events and festivals there are. His style combines house music with his roots and influences, regularly incorporating Italo disco, soul, post-punk and dub into the mix. In the studio, he recorded initially as Boogie Drama and more recently under his own name (releasing tracks for labels such as Internasjonal, Moodmusic, Soul Clap, Systematic, 20-20 Vision, Lyase and Get Physical). Good friend and Milanese heartthrob, Lele Sacchi returns to the SB guestmix series this week. The man knows his way around a house 12", having been in the game since the early '90s, bearing witness to the evolution of what we call house music. Lele also teaches musical history at his local polytechnic, so he's well placed, and even better versed, to take us on a journey through time. A couple months back we tasked him with digging through his collection to provide us with a soundtrack to the mid 90's... and hear lie the fruits of his labour. 

"I recorded this selecting only underground deep funk and jazzy house tunes from the mid 1990’s, when I started leaving breakbeat music behind and mixing only 4/4 music.
It was a great moment for those genres, the US original sounds melted into the exploding UK sounds.
In Milan, I was playing at legendary nights at Tunnel, Gasoline and then at Magazzini Generali which became one of Europe’s most important underground large venues. It was also a period when I started getting international recognition playing in Spain, France and UK with likeminded spirits as Ralph Lawson, DJulz, Jef K and the likes..."

Behind the decks since 1995 and a whole life dedicated to the world of music Lele Sacchi is now internationally recognised as one of the icons of Italy's electronic, house and alternative music scene. 
In these twenty years behind the decks he has completed an all around the world trip djing in the best clubs, events and festivals, has recorded music initially with the studio project Boogie Drama and more recently under his own name (releasing tracks for some of the best electronic and house labels such as Moodmusic, Soul Clap, Systematic, 20-20 Vision, Get Physical and many others), for many years the driving force behind Milan's most lauded clubbing temples (hosting the cream of the scene such as Richie Hawtin, Chemical Bros., Jeff Mills, Ricardo Villalobos and so on…).
Every weekend he runs Radio2 Inthemix on state broadcaster Rai since 2012, is one of the founders and directors of the Elita company, mainly known for its annual festival during Design Week (www.elita.it) and teaches ‘history of dance music’ at prestigious Istituto Europero di Design (IED).
He’s constantly asked to play and soundesign for style brands and exhibitions (stable for Trussardi and consulting for the likes of Adidas, Timberland, G-Star, Toyota, Mercedes etc…). 
He sits as a judge at the world’s first ever talent show on dj’s and electronic music, TOP DJ, on air on SKY tv.
Italy’s biggest newspaper ‘La Repubblica’s supplement ‘TuttoMilano’ put him among the 25 people that forged Milan in the past 25 years.
