"Vessel" is the latest release from the genre-hopping creator, William Florelle in collaboration with Groovence, the esteemed French label that houses Cody Currie, Moonee, Kassian, Tour Maubourg, Kevin Over, and more on its repertoire.  

The release explores a new flavour of deep house/broken beat-infused dance music. Both tracks are led by the voice of William Florelle and *Vessel (Side to Side)*, features the entrancing spoken word of Shama Joseph.

In form with the theme of William Florelle’s lyricism, *Vessel* is a call to express and be oneself, especially on the dance floor - ’(you’ve) got all the answers, don’t hide yourself, don’t hide your bubble’. *Sometimes*, on the other hand, is pensive, flowing in unison with its wound-down but very vibey beat.

On remix duties, friend and collaborator, [Beringei](https://www.instagram.com/beringei/), joins to provide an interpretation of *Vessel*. Rethinking the chords and flipping the beat, [Roy Vision](https://www.instagram.com/roy_vision/) joins to remix *Sometimes.*

[PREMIERE] William Florelle - Vessel (Side to Side) Ft. Shama Joseph (Groovence)

In the midst of the summer of 1988, a duo of artist from Belgium and Italy got together in the surroundings of the infamous X-rated film Rocket 23 Studios Molenbeek to build a seductive sound.

Originally involved in the cinematography and art direction of adult movies, the two mavericks decided to compose the soundtrack of what was going to become a cult movie of the late 80s erotique era: "Sexo y Fantasia".

The Belgian and Italian directors discovered back then the new beat, proto house and italo sound at the underground Ghent disco club "La Pircardía” and at “Club Spaziale” in Rimini, after their wet shooting days. Inspired by this bubbling European hype, they added features and distorted vocals from the X-rated movies they were filming at that time to the melody and beat of the soundtrack. The result is a powerful, unexpected and deep collection of tunes that sound fresh and vibrant today.

These unique tracks get to see the light of the day again thanks to the finding of the filthy master tapes together with a provocative fanzine somewhere in Brussels. Its images served as raw material for the adult artwork.

"Sexo y Fantasia" gets now revisited by current producers on the leftside of the beat: t-woc uses his masterful expertise to build an atmosphere of Balearic layouts, while Alexander Arpeggio works his way around a hypnotic and punchy remix of the original theme.

Following the release of The Motion / Looking For Your Love in the spring of 2022, FOXTROTT presents Take it Back / Go for Joy, the second diptych of her new series. Pushing forward her unique sound, FOXTROTT releases two magnetic, highly textured and percussive tracks. The very bouncy “Take it Back” is a call to reclaim personal power and leave a toxic relationship. It’s the soundtrack to a cool and confident walk towards a better life. Go for Joy is a driving and trippy journey where rattling percussion and wonky synths meet existential questions. Through this new series of diptychs, FOXTROTT throws away the rulebook and wants to take us along on her journey. “I love the short form of the diptych in music, where one piece resonates with the other, in a dialogue. It’s a mini-universe of its own. After a few years navigating the music industry with its ups and downs, I wanted to reconnect with spontaneity, ease and the joy of sharing music. By moving away from more rigid structures, I feel a renewed enthusiasm. Honestly, I feel like I am just getting started.”

[PREMIERE]  - Underground Canopy - Quiet Storm (Menace)

Brazilian singer and songwriter releases a new album of exuberant and vintage tropical pop music.

Somewhere, we get back to the carioca João Selva where we left him: sailing on the mythical Black Atlantic to create exhilarating music whose vibrations invite us to Rio, the Brazilian Northeast, the Caribbean, Cape Verde or even Angola. His latest album, “Navegar” (2021), acclaimed by critics, is an invigorating dance and dream machine that updates the tropicalist revolution of the 70s by offering a turbulent mix of samba, soul, jazz and funk.

Continuing to spread wings with “Passarinho” (2023), this time it is flying like a bird that the singer from Ipanema takes us into his musical universe, always as sunny as it is abundant. The 10 tracks of this new album span a generous palette of musical influences: from Angolan semba to Cape Verdean funaná, via Caribbean zouk or Congolese rumba – João Selva's music channels the musical pulse of the Black Atlantic. In the most (im)pure Brazilian tradition, he also digests the contribution of North American music and freely incorporates elements from elsewhere into the irresistible rhythms of Brazil.

Prolonging a fruitful collaboration with french producer Bruno Patchworks, this new LP is full of sound nuggets and offers a wide range of emotions and sensations. The contagious optimism of "Cantar cantar" backed by a radiant groove worthy of the best productions by Marcos Valle or Joao Donato. Psychedelic folk as Devendra Banhart on "Mar de estrelas" or "Cirandinha" often carried by orchestral arrangements which bring an unexpected freshness to this bewitching album. Of course, we do not give up to party on the irresistible “Seu Carnaval” or “Menina me encanta” and we dance with the rain in “Chuva”. In a more deep mood, the song "Por um amor" evokes the romantic relationship with psychedelia and sensuality.

After two years “without Carnival”, the Brazilian songwriter has chosen to celebrate hope and the joy of being alive in these lyrics written largely during successive confinements. In the title song “Passarinho” he wonders: how can a little bird keep singing in a cage? Before answering it on "Cantar cantar" by recalling that "when things are bad, you just have to sing that it already goes a little better". Universal and captivating poetry that drives songs that are both sensual and catchy. Ultimately, an album made to spread wings and fly high, the ideal soundtrack to offset a certain saudade and feel free as a little bird.

[PREMIERE] João Selva - Sete Ventos (Underdog Records)

Portuguese multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Pedro Ricardo releases his debut album, ‘Soprem Bons Ventos’, on Soundway Records.

Currently based in Berlin, Pedro Ricardo has been releasing music for the past eight years under dierent aliases via labels such as Extended Records, 1980Lyfers, Wolf Music and his own imprints Hear, Sense and Feel and Pedro’s House. An eclectic DJ and selector, he hosts a radio show on South London's radio Balamii, guested on Mafalda's NTS show and can be found playing in clubs across all Europe.

“The album translates to ‘Good Winds Blow’, shares Ricardo. “This idea of good winds blowing is intertwined with the feeling of missing something, and sadness. On a positive note, there is still an overarching sense that happiness also lies ahead. Soprem Bons Ventos represents an ode to the past, to those who came before me, connecting with my present and imagining the future.”

Stylistically, Ricardo became entranced with jazz from an early age, while also becoming enamoured with folk music – rooted in his Portugal childhood, now encompassing sounds from Cape Verde, Brazil, and Spain along the way. He intertwines these instrumental in#uences with $eld recordings, and electronics, on ‘Soprem Bons Ventos’.

While ‘Soprem Bons Ventos’ sonic beginnings were conjured in his native city of Porto, the album’s creative process spanned four countries and $ve years. Ricardo initially recorded early demos in Portugal, before he criss-crossed through Europe.
However, it was a move to Wood Green (London) in 2019 that ignited a creative spark that brought the album together. “This album has been following me around for the past $ve years,” shares Ricardo. “Wherever I went, it came along... but the majority of the recording process came alive in London.”

“The city had a particular eect on me. There are so many people doing so many exciting things, you have to ask yourself, ‘what makes the thing you are creating your own?’ This record has a lot of personal sonic moments like that. That is not to say that I found ‘my sound’, but rather that I found something that I think is special, and truly represents me now.
     
“The years when I was making the record also coincide with me moving away from Portugal, away from home – this feeling is very much present during the record. You can hear it.”

Whether in his birthplace or newly adopted cities, as its title suggests, Good Winds Blow throughout the album’s 9-tracks. The LP is a journey that encompasses nostalgia, love, longing, and togetherness, tenderly intertwined throughout with vibrant percussion, whispers of vocals, soaring keys, and delicate guitars.

[PREMIERE] Pedro Ricardo - Cantar das Kandakinhas (Soundway Records)

Marseille Movement is a 5-minute Latin Jazz jam follow-on from 'Okra'. Full of energy and spirit, It was recorded over in London in September 2022 with a bunch of AUS and UK based musicians.

From David: "After figuring out some basic sections and lead lines we did just one take of the recording and then the track was chopped up a few months later back at home. There’s so much joy in this song for me, it really captures the excitement of playing together and collaborating in a different part of the world. After the studio sessions some friends and I spent a bit of time in Marseille, South France where a lot of the ideas came from just listening to the recording over and over again while walking around the city".

This is the third installment in the series of mixtapes tracing the impact of the orixás - the afro brazilian spirits of the religions umbanda and candomblé.
A popular reference in the Brazilian popular music in the 1960s and 1970s, the call-out to the spirits invokes a special force and movement in the music.

En pleine préparation de son nouveau live pour les Transmusicales de Rennes 2018, Dombrance, connu pour son hit "The Witch", membre du duo DBFC et remixeur de Superpoze, Cascadeur, Is Tropical, GET A ROOM, a jeté son dévolu sur le titre "Ce soir je m'en vais" du duo parisien SLOVE en feat. avec Maud Geffray (du duo SCRATCH MASSIVE qui sort un nouvel album le 26 octobre prochain).

Alors que le titre original nous embarquait dans une ballade au phrasé poétique sur une instru électro-punk cadencée, Dombrance nous propulse dans un long voyage groovy et cotonneux qui séduira autant les clubbers addict au dancefloor que les mélomanes amateurs de dimanches pluvieux devant la cheminée.

Having released the album Kalba to huge critical acclaim, Wah Wah 45s are now ready to unleash the next stage of this unique cross-continental project, fronted by Ghanain xylophonist Isaac Birituro and Leeds based sing-songwriter and Grammy nominated producer Sonny Johns, AKA The Rail Abandon. Their debut album caused something of a stir this year, with Gilles Peterson, Cerys Matthews and many more showing it the love it deserves. Even though the album has plenty of club friendly moments, the label decided to let some of their favourite producers give you their own interpretations of this landmark album for Wah Wah 45s.
So up stepped rising stars of the tropical scene, Village Cuts, to deliver a typically uptempo and life - affirming re-work of Yesu Yan Yan; the erstwhile Innocent Sorcerer from Poland, Envee, to give the same cut a more Afro-disco feel; Hong Kong bass worriers Blood Wine or Honey to rework So Ma into a monstrous dance floor destroyer; and Singapore based Kaye from the mighty Darker Than Wax with his clever re-rub of Nye Fo Chen that’ll put you in a proper jazz dance trance

Epic Vinyls From Brazil (EVFB) is back on Le Mellotron for the Iemanjá day!

This time we had the pleasure to have the full duo behind the decks: DJ Carlotta aka DJ Viola and Rasmus Schack aka DJ Contracapa aka Quasileiro aka Babalorischack aka DJ Churrasmus. If you don't know them yet, their DJ Set are made up of exceptional, rare Brazilian music that you have probably never heard before (except for the specialists that you may be!).

The records on the mixtape has been carefully collected and selected to present the influence of the afro-brazilian roots on Brazilian popular music. We’ve been wanting to do a mix for Iemanjá - the goddess of the sea - for a long time. Now there are many, many amazing Iemanjá songs like Conto de Areia by Clara Nunes, Dois de Fevereiro by Dorival Caymmi and Marisa Monte’s version of Lendas das Sereias Rainhas do Mar (from the London Olympics closing seremony).

All these songs are tied together by the theme of the Orixas, the sea, mermaids and the 2nd of February - which is a sacred day in many cultures. In the nordic countries it is known as Candelarum Missa - the celebration of lights and half of winter.
In this mix we have opted to bring forth music for dancing, celebrating and energizing your day. Many of the songs we have been digging to fit in the mix. And we tied the traditional samba and afrobrazilian grooves together with not so known rhythms like carimbó and ciranda. Special thanks to Elan Kemesar for parting with a copy of Juca Medalha’s ultra rare compacto with Sambatuque.

The references to Iara, Yá-Yá, Iemanja, Odoia, sereia and Rainha do Mar (Queen of the Sea) are all popular references to Iemanjá - also found in other african diaspora cultures in Latin America.

We hope you enjoy and look forward to sharing this music on dancefloors worldwide!

Epic Vinyls from Brazil are Rasmus and Dona Carla from Copenhagen and Rio de Janeiro.

If you don't know them yet, their DJ Set are made up of exceptional, rare Brazilian music that you have probably never heard before (except for the specialists that you may be).
They have been digging for one year to make another mix on Le Mellotron dedicated the Brazilian goddess of the sea: Iemanjá.
From a pool of 30 themed records, they selected 16 highly danceable MPB (popular Brazilian music) rarities made to celebrate life and good music.
Iemanjá is celebrated on February 2nd all over Brazil and connected to blue and white colors, rivers and oceans, white flowers, love and cleansing.

This name of this mix is ABOM-5. The 5th mixtape in their Afro Brazil Orixa Mix series - which traces the influence of african rhytms and spirituality in Brazilian music. Major MPB artists from Rio like Wando and Elza Soares are mixed with tracks from Bahia, Belem and São Paulo.
