Halloween, an uncanny 13 years ago ~ New mixes are on the way, but in the meantime here's a fun oddity recently unearthed from a hard drive.
It was recorded 2009 in a bar called »Gulasch« that I liked a lot when I had just moved to Berlin. A dirty little beer-spilling, bolognese mouth-greasing, vodka-breathing universe.
Wanted to reach 666 minutes but got too wasted in the end with my buddy Simon Wald-Lasowski… It's got everything: Lots of hits, swish Traktor FX, hellishly tipsy mixing and shitty mp3s ~ Hope you enjoy x 👻🫠

Brno and Prague based artist James Aitken whips out a monthly series curated under his new alias @jamespacinka. Tune in for experimental mixes, live acts from local faces and beyond. 

Never shying away from physical formats, a shift in focus has brought Bernard's recent mixing endeavours closer to vinyl and tape selections, in amongst which his taste for electronic club music stays strong. 

In the first edition of the series Bernard's selection delivers highly saturated contrasts, between pioneers of early electronics and contemporary club sound, balanced out with ambient drones and acoustic notes.

Audiovisual artist, musician and producer Ter0rista aka debilekblbay jumps into the mix for the second episode - absorbing a season long of influences shared across various dungeons of his hometown Brno. Featured in a recent compilation - ‘Máš na Míň’ by the emerging ‘favu label’, under his other alias ‘terorzmrd’. Focusing on various media pathways and sampling methods to achieve a certain topology, from which he dissects - feeding live breaks to a downtempo drone threshing of dirty landscapes.

VDRT is a one man project, behind which stands Brno stationed producer and sound engineer David Pirochta, not to mention member of Lysovice Sound System. Within his ever evolving, hard punching hybrid live sets built upon a majority of unreleased ‘bedroom’ material, tune in for an hour and a half of derailing from soft melodic trance tunes ascending thru darker emotions towards acid rave inspired techno, broken structures and unshackled spatial vocals. Achieving radical harmonies in sound design and edging ever closer to fulfilling the role of 'the' autonomous dj/producer. His most recent release ‘Production of consents’ continues on the axis of independent production, conserving the internet bedroom craft that is found projected in other tracks found on a variety of streaming platforms.

The first collaborative episode of the Contra stare show introduces Máúcta, DJ and producer based around Brno’s collectives Bastl and Proud. Her nearly hour-long mix oscillates between delicate experimental electronic soundscapes, trance synths/percussions and standard electro-acid stompers. The artwork for this episode was created by Schwarzwald's one and only goblin Mikuláš Zimula aka attacchicardiaci. Reverb, distorted snare, psychedelia and Indigenous vocals - we got you covered. Be patient.

Contra Stare 6 w/ Máúcta

Pro tuto epizodu Máúcta přináší smysl pro zábavu, radost a extázi. Zaměřuje se pečlivě na rovnováhu mezi napětím pozdní noci a ranní euforií. Výsledkem je stylisticky rozmanitý mix plný skákavých basových linek a rozjařených vokálních samplů, ale také skladeb s vlivy pocházejícími z celého světa.

Dunkeltier, aka Sneaker (@sneakerdj and @sneaker-edits), aka Gino Galan, aka Lupo in Bionda e Lupo (check their 716 Playlist and their upcoming EP « Die Kinder Aus Dem Park« ), aka Dérive with June (@june), aka Serial Error with Jacob Korn (@jacob-korn) & Credit 00 (@credit-00), aka another name to be found for his two projects coming with Scannoir (@scannoir) in 2018, aka many other names you might ignore…  has been here for a long time now in the underground « electro » music scene in the super wide meaning of the word. He released for numerous labels but has been particularly close of Uncanny Valley Records (@uncanny-valley-dresden), including its sublabel Rat Life Records, and Frigio Records (@frigio-records) run by our friend Juanpablo (check his 716 Mix).
Sneakers contribution is the reenactment of his long prepared mix of Russian (Italo) Disco and Post Punk for the Friday afternoon slot at the Camp Cosmic festival 2017. For those who don’t know it yet – CC is THE event for disco diggers in Europe since 2011 - invented by Albion (@big-muffle) in Sweden and now co-hosted by Spacelex (@spacelex) and a bunch of underground supporters from Dresden and Berlin.
