You look back and see the curious cat, leaping from wall to wall in zero-G snatching food pellets mid-air. The damn cat must have malfunctioned the kitty feeder again. This is why you normally leave her aboard the mothership, but no one knows how long this recon will take. Just a particle drifting in a never-ending expanse beyond reason. Golden dust shouldn’t be able to spread this far out from the wormhole. You realize the cat is safer with you and your sanity is safe with her. Those tincan AIs on the mothership know nothing of caring for a feline. In the cold heart of space, biologicals stick together, don’t they?"

Running the wavestate through the "loop forest" patch on the zoia, with the deluge providing just enough bass to keep things on track. I might be addicted to the shakuhachi patch on the wavestate, it sounds so nice...

Jamuary 14 24 - Dispel

The ICO Obernburg is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Therefore a lot of great artists were showing photos, sculptures, paintings. But there was music too and so I had the chance to create half an installation and half a performance the whole day long in a beautiful old working space. I was deeply focussing on working with the ambience of the room itself but also with the visitors coming and leaving. There are 17 takes I have recorded to show how my work has evolved over time.

A Gentleman's Guide to Entropy

The main theme in this track was originally recorded in 2009 and titled "Harvest". While going through a particularly emotionally challenging  time during Autumn 2019, I was listening to a remaster of Harvest and thinking it would be nice to extend it and slow things down. Now I have done that I thought it would be appropriate to re-title it Autumn's Shadow. The field recordings in this track were made at Conwy harbour late at night with the eerie wind resonating around the metallic boat masts and other structures, and the lone blackbird singing sweetly in Liverpool city centre which could be heard from some considerable distance away cutting through the urban soundscape which was refreshing and delightful. I had to record that moment.

Wintertime isn't like a story, it's more of an inner whirling between the higher and lower notes. Entropy slows down and on snowy forest paths, the quietening call of a future is heard. A sleeping life of the shimmering heart, soft sight journeys into the window - in the anticipation of bloom and return of color. Gentle movements and lurking stillness; and sun, the winter symbol of the steadily warming order on Earth, vanishing just to continue the way through the snow-covered wastelands.
