Mote-Evolver kicks off 2014 with Future Modular EP from Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems alias, presenting sharp-as-ever fresh sound of P.A.S. that has enticed the audience as long as the mighty ‘Systems’ have existed. 

Never a stranger to a forward thinking sound aesthetic and with a title like ‘Future Modular’, P.A.S. packs the EP with 4 tracks (with digital-only ‘Subtracted Mix’ of the title track) that spark with Futurism and tightly channel the energy at the tip of the boiling point.

The title track sets the tone of the EP - positively powerful and playful - with its groovy bass drum and acid infusing an ample dose of funky rhythmic variations. But it wouldn’t be P.A.S. without the thrilling tension that locks you in, “Riot in Silo 12” on the B-side slips into the darker side, keeping the hats just below the surface and layer by layer uncovering the electrifying suspense throughout the track. “Serc” pops open with the bursting energy of kick drum then takes you to the uncharted realms of cold minimalistic drops reminiscent of early Sähkö purism, and masterfully brings a variety of moving elements and textures into dynamic captivating techno.

Future Modular is yet another top form techno EP full of ideas and dimensions from P.A.S., a superb successor to the constantly floor-stirring his previous No Exit EP to offer kinetic prowess that never diminishes.

The Reason Y makes his return to Gem Records with an electrifying 2 track EP titled 'Blitzeis'. The leading track immediately sends you down a path of dark, rolling grooves, which remains true to the Gem sound. The Southern follows suit with his 'jacking' take on 'Blitzeis', perfectly executing a high energy, tribal-esk banger. Closing things off, The Reason Y introduces us to the aptly named 'Wrecking Ball'. This monster of a track is all about that late night feeling, encompassing everything every core raver desires.

Sound Associates are late 90s UK producers Ben Tisdall and Daz Saund. With a long string of releases on labels like Music Man, Tortured, Missile and more, the pair defined a funky, frenetic tribal Techno sound. 

Their raw and challenging sonics, with compressed low ends and crisp highs no doubt contributed to the benchmarks for Techno today. Perhaps some of the unsung heroes of the pioneering UK scene, Sound Associates have left a permanent stamp on the shape of club music without compromise.

Following on from his Edits of DJ Hyperactive, JPLS and Mikael Jonasson, Len Faki now takes on original Sound Associates material in two burning new interpretations. 

Both 'Jacknife' and 'Boombox' blend the jacking, floor-burning funk of the original S.A cuts, with Faki's unmistakable attention to detail, and deadly-high production values. Finely tuned, yet raw and unrelenting, they are a perfect addition to Figure's current run of releases, setting new and higher standards for underground Techno in 2014.

This is the second release by Mark Deutsche & Musoé on Noir Music and a great follow up to their techno stomper “Push”. On “Express Yourself” the German guys have teamed up with Xenia Beliayeva who wrote and performed some lush vocals on top of the duo's hypnotic techno vibes. The outcome is an addictive journey that will have any techno crowd go crazy.

Both Andre Winter and Ernesto Ferreyra has poured their excellent production skills all over the release and made unique remixes of this beast. Andre Winter sticks to his solid techno vibes and his rock-solid sound known from Ideal Audio and Senso Sounds.
Ernesto Ferreyra cleverly turns the journey a lot deeper, layered and dubby spaced out.

Spain is one of the biggest countries for techno and has many a great artists that call it home. Alberto Santana is one of them. He is one the countries biggest techno exports.

We welcome him back to Yin Yang with open arms. One way is one of his best tracks. Rolling bassline and classy tech stabs in a musical yet dark fashion, fused together in a way that will for sure erupt any techno dance floor into a frenzy of screams and punches in the air. Massive.

Here we go another belting Yin Yang release..

It is the return of Yin Yang long resident, the Italian supremo ‘Fabio Piletto’ with his outstanding track “Lift Your Body”.

The original track has an excellent rolling bassline and superb sounds that combine for a dance floor friendly workout. Nice stabs ooze with the vocal “Lift Your Body”.. Great production work of upmost quality..

New kids on the block the Eastern European’s Nikoretti and Sopik. These guys know how to make tough techno. Lush driving beats and great use of the sample pack. Sexy as hell.

One of the longest standing artists on Yin Yang is Section One. One of the old school tradition Swedish techno maestro’s. Here he returns once again for real techno action. Classy techno in almost tech house fashion. I just leaked listening to this!

Newcomer Royal Wolf next. This guys sound is very fresh and a good change to other mixes.. A very sexy mix indeed..

A blistering buddy to the first instalment of Pig&Dan’s ‘Tunnel Vision’ EP will land in April. 

Not one to rest on their laurels, Pig&Dan have come out firing in 2020. One of the techno genre’s most prolific artists, their 17 year has seen a wealth and consistency of output unmatched by most in the industry. This is exemplified by the ‘Tunnel Vision’ series launched on Drumcode this year.

Set for release just one week after its predecessor, part 2 continues in powerful, peak-time mode. ‘Sirenism’ is a tour de force, driven by a pulsating lead that pops with acidic undertones. ‘Rinse Out The Sound’ is an intoxicating blend of warbled effects, warm synth layers and crisp drum work. ‘Perception’ is marked by an exuberant top line riff and steely percussive layers and makes for a colourful addition to any set. ‘Wasted’ is muscular techno at its finest, finished with a glistening layer of melody. No surprise the collection went down a treat at Warehouse Project, Drumcode Halloween and Dockyard Festival, among others. The duo are in irresistible form.
