The 17th instalment of our WAS. Series is a contribution of the Berlin-based @lennartwiehe from Hannover who also is a resident DJ at club @komOOST. Some of his other pre-pandemic gigs include Berghain and Panoramabar and the Marcel Dettmann protegé also initiated the concept label @Kuratorium.

Lennart's words about this special mix: "Listening to club music made me more sentimental than anything else during the past winter but when spring slowly came to Berlin that changed, so this is when I recorded the mix. I felt like recording a mix that consisting of happy club memories which catches the vibe of my Panoramabar debut back in 2018. I was on late Sunday morning until afternoon, after Mark Knekelhuis and before Marcel Dettmann, who invited me there. Playing there after this day was still special but I never was as nervous as that first time there. Reminiscing during this dark winter it was kind of my go-to happy memory, standing there surrounded by friends and playing my favorite music.

I didn‘t want to play all the tracks everyone heard a 1000 times already so I tried to capture the vibe without actually playing tracks I can remember having played in a club before. To me it is a really happy hour of music :)"

Ever-evolving sonic textures through the hissy yet subtle selections of @LennartWiehe.

The Berlin-based Hannover native is a resident at Groningen’s beloved club @komOOST since 2016, where he co-curates the Eclectic Theory event series, and has played both Berghain and Panorama Bar. After suspending his @Schleifen label Lennart initiated a brand new concept called Kuratorium - which is part project-based label and part platform for promising curators to define their artistic identities through one-off showcases. Furthermore, the Marcel Dettman protegé is gearing up to release his first EP under his own name, rather than his Ravechild moniker, later this year.

Recorded from his home he crafted a mix to capture a certain summer vibe in his signature style - transcending tempos and genres to explore the ebb and flow of intimacy, warmth, and groovy roughness.

Lennart Wiehe is a young German DJ, producer, and curator, shaping the sound and feel of some of the scene's finest institutions.

After moving to Groningen, The Netherlands at age nineteen, Lennart Wiehe became one of the early residents at acclaimed OOST (@komoost), where he invited progressive line-ups to his nights and thus helped shape the club's signature sound. Following an invitation of Marcel Dettmann (@marceldettmann), Wiehe was one of the youngest to have played both Berghain and Panorama Bar (@berghain) and relocated to Berlin. In 2021, he started a residency at Weltspiele (@weltspiele-club) in Hanover, once again granting the opportunity to curate his own forward-thinking nights.

In both production and curation, Wiehe stands in opposition to the trending race for the harder and faster by drawing towards intimacy, warmth and roughness in sound. Following this approach whilst avoiding stereotypes and the obvious, he stoically flips over genre-boundaries, and effortlessly combines techno, house, electro, IDM, pop, and more into a grooving whole. 

In 2022, Wiehe released his widely applauded debut EP 'Amb-Kombat' on the legendary Delsin (@delsinrecords) imprint. The record's four tracks merge tribal polyrhythms, techno futurism, and crisp, melodic bodies into one.
