We love new at Data Transmission. We love fresh. We love exciting. So when somebody ticks all three of those boxes we don’t waste any further time in making sure we nab them for content before the rest of the world comes knocking and that’s why this today’s mix of the day is being supplied by the incredibly talented Lenno as he continues his meteoric rise through the international electronic music scene and beyond.

After kicking off April by giving fans a taste of things to come this summer with a sumptuous remix of US indie band Tropic of Pisces’ latest track ‘Symmetry’ which lands next week on Brooklyn-based Ooh La La Records the rising star has also revealed that a second EP is on the horizon following on from the release of his critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Never Stop’ before further teasing news of a forthcoming remix for one of the planet’s biggest and dare we say coolest recording artists.  So, with a lot in the pipeline we think it’s fair to say that the uber talented young man from Finland is proving himself to be one of the mosts exciting new talents to be emerging from the underground today.

So with that in mind we invited him in to deliver today’s Mix Of The Day. Check it out complete with tracklisting here

“The beauty of traveling the world is experiencing contrast. One moment you’re on a beach in Malaysia, the next you’re on a snowcapped mountain on Lake Tahoe. After spending the last couple weeks in the sweltering heat of places like Thailand, India, and Singapore, it’ll be a baptism of sorts to finally experience a proper winter at Snowglobe Festival. We made this mix with the idea of contrast in mind because without darkness there is no light and without silence, there is no music. So what a beautiful world it is to have contrast.”

Fred Falke At Ultra Korea 2016

Wrestling with the passage of time is a challenge that always seems to rear it's head just as the days are reaching their shortest. The air is cool, the trees have lost their leaves, music is bouncing around the world, and here we are again together, just like last year. The world has changed around us, but aren't we right where we were? This time of year is always an impenetrable fog. Judging your place in the world, especially in THIS world, or at least the strange dystopian one we've created for ourselves, is near impossible. What do we even have to cling to, as fall turns to winter and the nights are longer and colder? Underneath everything else at least we can share some music - across continents and oceans and time zones. Music for lonely mornings and drunken nights. Music for closing your eyes to. Music to take us somewhere else. Where do we go from here?

This is for anyone who's out there paying any attention. I released a record a couple of months ago and the entire process of putting it into the world and then going on the road to play the songs has left my head spinning. It's hard to tell which direction is up these days. I'm not sure what I would do if I didn't have these mixes to put together. They're my therapy and I hope maybe they can be the same for you.
