In the music scene, the word “Alternative” has been bastardized since its inception, being slapped onto numerous artists due to lack of a better term. However, Le Noire, the four-piece band hailing from the Echo Park section of Los Angeles, truly embodies the origins of the term alternative rock.  Formed in mid-2014 by friends and fellow musicians Nate Lotz, Sohanny Rose, Dan Graham and Tyler Carroll, Le Noire’s commitment to alternative rock music and its sound and lifestyle is nowhere more evident than in their music. The band is undoubtedly hard rocking, unwavering, and fully committed to melding their unique psychedelic/grunge sound into a completely new take on rock and the alternative genre – a truly dark and raw sound.  To further their cause, the band does something that is relatively unheard of these days, Le Noire do all of their recordings live, using vintage equipment and instruments, and most importantly - recording everything to tape.  Fresh off the release of their first single, FIRE, Le Noire wields the mighty alt-rock sword in the return of rock music, as most of us knew it. “FIRE” embodies that true rock prowess, and definitely reminds of something you’d catch on MTV, staring googly-eyed at the TV after school with a plate of Bagel Bites. The vocals glide perfectly along the crunchy guitar chords and the deep, noxious lead riff, ultimately culminating in a crescendo of splashing cymbols and angst. Exactly what this music is and should be about. To note as well, Le Noire’s upcoming EP was recorded with and produced by Eli Thomson (renowned bass player and member of Father John Misty) using a Trident A-Range console which was used to record music from giants like David Bowie, The Police, and Rush. The end result is a truly nostalgic sound, one that pays a tremendous homage to bands from the 90′s, but because of the songwriting and mix of other sounds and genres, is something new all on to itself.
